Tony must be a real nice guy to promote Jackson after Jackson said he was wack and basically would never do music with him.

The download was only $0.99, and I gotta say, it's not too bad. Kinda funny to buy KD as an inner-city rapper since he has that clean-cut image, but he's got flow.

I'm not really feeling it. They're not saying anything new. Rapping about "haters" is getting as old as this whole swag nonsense. And yes Jax, you have money, we know.. I guess if you're an average fan of Hip-hop you'll think this is good, or maybe you just like it because it's Stak5.

Being a fan a 90's boom bap Hip-hop and today's underground, I gotta say I can't mess with it. At least they're on beat and not rapping about killing people.

Agreed, it's not a work of art or anything, but it's more respectable than the old Kobe rap song, any of Tony's stuff, and most other celeb cameos in rap. And it's the Trill Stak 5.

It's better than what I expected. I like KD's flow more than Jackson's. Jackson isn't ever really going to put anything "new" into his raps, it will probably always be about haters, swag and money and his style will more than always be him relying on metaphors and similes. After I said all of this, I have to say, who cares that it's not bringing anything new to the table. There will be artists like this, not every artist is meant to be(can't be) a socially-aware type of artist who is creating new variations to flows and finding new subjects to touch on; but lets be honest a lot of socially-aware artists aren't bringing anything new to the table either. Often they are just saying the same things and rapping about the same subjects as most other socially-aware artists and a lot of times their songs sound boring, which is the more than likely the reason they are underground(if they are underground, which more than likely they are). I'm a fan of pretty much all eras and types of hip-hop but this song still flows well with me.

Decent-good sounding song, I just wish Jackson's flow was a bit more interesting.

Song has a good chorus/beat, but the lyrics were really weak.

Here's the thing.. Stak5 is a basketball player who raps on the side. I wasn't expecting to hear something innovative and "lyrical". If I think it's wack then I'm calling it wack. And you ask who cares about the content? Me and alot of other Hip-hop heads care about what people write and put into their music. If you're doing Hip-hop to be like the last guy then what's the point in doing it? He's already rich so what's the point in talking about it?

I don't care who's making the music.. If it's b/s then it's b/s. Too many people are broke and hungry for me to listen to a rich basketball player boast about his money. And that goes these ignorant "artists" on the radio too. As far as the underground being full of boring artists, it depends what you look for and who you run into. I hear all types of Hip-hop in the underground with their own unique sound. These major labels can't pimp every rapper doing their thing. And alot of independent artists are underground because they refuse to make garbage Hip-hop and want creative control. People are so obsessed with money and it doesn't make anything better when celebrities flaunt it on TV and in music. Anyways like phxspurfan said it could be worse.

This is what doesn't make sense about a lot of self-proclaimed hip-hop heads; you act like elitists. Some artists are not going to have extremely new content or be "the next guy". Why do a lot of self-proclaimed hip-hop heads act as if EVERY artists has to try to be that "next guy" to try to innovate the game...you even said "If you're doing Hip-hop to be like the last guy then what's the point in doing it?"....Some people just want to make music, they don't(or maybe can't) be that "next guy", so why try to be that, when they'll more than be classified as "trying too hard". That's like saying every basketball player needs to try to big player, when simply a lot of players can't do that, so they might as well just try to fit into a system as a support role. Also some people just like making music like this, if people want to listen to it you shouldn't be complaining just appreciate the music that you like.

" Too many people are broke and hungry artists for me to listen to a rich basketball player boast about his money."

And a lot of those broke and hungry artists are wack and just looking to make money in the first place. The only difference is that Jackson is already rich, while most of those artists are looking to become rich. You shouldn't really care that he is rapping about his money, be glad he is rapping about stuff that is true and not lying. I'd rather listen to an artist rap about money that they do have than for an artist to rap about a past that didn't happen to them, even if it makes them seem as if they are "socially aware".

"And that goes these ignorant "artists" on the radio too." An artist is an artist, you can't deny them that. You obviously have some disdain towards mainstream artists and you more than likely think they all suck, so I will make this comparison; saying "artists" is like mentioning Danny Green and someone calling him like "basketball player". It's ignorant, period.

"As far as the underground being full of boring artists"

When did I say that? I said "lets be honest a lot of socially-aware artists aren't bringing anything new to the table.....a lot of times their songs(I meant to be "seem to" here) sound boring, which is the more than likely reason they are underground."

I was talking about the socially-aware artists who aren't bringing anything new to the table, just talking about subjects that most other socially-aware artists have already touched on. I NEVER said underground artists. You do know socially-aware artists can be mainstream right.....ex: Common.

" These major labels can't pimp every rapper doing their thing. And alot of independent artists are underground because they refuse to make garbage Hip-hop and want creative control."

    ......Of course.

Anyways, bottom line, there is music that is just there for fun and then there is conscious/socially aware music. They both exist for a reason for different type of people. If fans of "fun" music were to complain about socially-aware music, you'd all have a problem with it. So why complain about either? There is no point.

I can enjoy both underground and mainstream, fun and socially-aware. I don't understand, how people can have some much disdain towards certain music because it's not conscious music, some music is just supposed to be fun. Lighten up, people.

I don't act like an elitist one bit, I just tell it how it is. Hip-hop and society has been dumbed down over the years so it's easy to say "not everybody has to be original or innovative." There is plenty of wack conscious rappers who can't come correct so I'm not even backing the whole conscious Hip-hop movement. You lost me with the basketball/Hip-hop comparison. Basketball players play for a team and do what they can until they get old. Rapping has always been a compe ive art where you can improve and try new things no matter your age.

I'm glad people can make the music they want to make and if they have fun making it then great! Too many rappers are concerned with making the next big hit that they're biting off of others who wish to achieve the same . It's pathetic. And I never said anything about broke and hungry rappers. I'm talking about human beings, period. I like making money like everybody else but the way celebrities and athletes flaunt their money is a slap in the face to some of the hard working people who have been ed over by the economy. So yeah rappers and people alike need to be socially aware. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with making fun music, but when all you write about is money, clothes, cars, swag, etc.. it becomes ing lame and should have been considered played out years ago. The same thing applies to the conscious rapper who can't make good music and repeats himself on every track.

No, most of these idiots on the radio are not artists. They imitate each other with horrible lyrics and are told what to do by men who wear suits and ties. Alot if not most of the mainstream rappers have ghostwriters which is wack in itself and shouldn't be considered an art form. Where is the art in being pimped by a record label?

I can't deny that there are underground artists who shouldn't be doing what they're doing. However, there are more talented MC's in the underground who have better skills and a nicer flow than anyone in the mainstream, with the exception of a very few. There is too many people trying to do this rap because they think they can get rich like these dudes on the radio, so they write a bunch of non sense and lie about their lifestyle. But you're right. It's a matter of opinion. If you respect the art and skills of Hip-hop you'll love underground Hip-hop and laugh at the mainstream. If you want to hear a bunch of lies and watch females hit the dance floor.. You'll listen to that other .

And people who hate the mainstream , can sometimes have a good reason to hate on it weather you believe it or not. You keep saying socially aware. yeah it's a problem if a person isn't socially aware. That's the whole ing problem with this country right now. People actually believe in these false idols that are glorified on television and the radio. People used to worry about kids listening to this but I see grown men acting like ing kids because they take this so seriously. So yeah I believe everybody should be socially aware. It doesn't justify a wack conscious rapper making some bland Hip-hop but his message is probably more respectable than the bull Wayne is saying. Myself, I just see through the non-sense and b/s of most radio rappers. We went from Wu-tang to Young Money. s dumbed down quite a bit.
