He'd instantly be our best big man off the bench
He'd instantly be our best big man off the bench
if he does return, he'll go with Heat or Lakers
If we can't get K-Mart, why not
Duncan, Diaw, Dice, Splitter .................................................. ............. Blair, Bonner
Don't see a reason why the Spurs shouldn't, it looks like Bonner and Blair are not going to get any more pt. if he could return to the way he played before he'd be huge for SA.
I liked Dice, but his tank was pretty damned empty when he rode off into the sunset.
Won't surprise me. New York has become the retirement home for some players.
but he has more balls and heart than Bonner so I'll take him anythime
I think if he made a comeback he would be automatically on the spurs cuz he retired during the third year of his contract...I think
I wouldn't bring him back though. There's a chance he has nothing left in the tank. The Spurs should be pursuing someone that can help now instead of just giving McDyess a charity spot.
He can come in to do the dirty work, defense and rebound. Hitting a few midrange jump-shots would be a plus.
no sir
Coming back to the Spurs will be a no brainer. McDyess was good if not spectacular during his last seasons with the Spurs. Always playing effective defense and offering himself as a good role player. And I don't remember Pop showing emotion in a game as much as he did when McDyess got a buzzer beater to go in against the then bloody Lakers.
The thing is whether McDyess will believe that he can win a ring with these Spurs as opposed to the Heat or the Lakers. He won't go to the Lakers, I think. But the Heat will be an alluring option. Lets hope Pop can outbid Riley here.
Wow, this is unexpected, yet nonetheless great news. Even at his age, not having played in a year and a half, I'd still take him over Bonner/Blair. Obviously, there's no possible way he could be in game shape, but this isn't Wallace we're talking about here; McDyess is too much of a professional to not be in good shape.
I don't think there's any question the Spurs would be interested and presuming they are, you'd think they'd have the inside track. Yes, Stoudemire is injury prone, but he's due back in 6 weeks and then what? Would McDyess even be active (once Shumpert returns)? With the Spurs, he'd be pretty much guaranteed to be the fourth big, at least come playoff time. Honestly, the Spurs will be hard pressed to add a better fourth big. They can upgrade the top three, but as far as adding a respectable fourth, for Blair, Bonner and Neal, it'd be difficult.
If take him over Bonner anyday. Please rc get this done.
Plus, he has something the FO values, corporate knowledge.
At least he would know his role... unlike Blair who thinks it's okay to take contested jumpers with 12 seconds left on the shot clock
with the way Tiago, Bonner, DeJuan have looked so far, it's a no brainer for the FO to take a look.
Would be a great fourth big, I think he can still help.
Knicks are also trying out Sheed, so he might stay away from them as well.
