duncan diaw splitter mcdyess is a very solid bigman rotation
mcdyess at times showed some athleticism and he had a solid mid range shot

he was actually pretty good in his 10-15 min role in 2011
after the spurs got beatdown by the lakers and pop inserted him into the starting lineup he went south
but 10-15 mins a night over bonner id take in a heartbeat

Of course if our alternates are Bonner and Blair, I give McDyess a shot. I just don't see him as someone that can help the team this year. But, we should see how much he has left.

The team seemed to really like him and, I believe, didn't want him to retire.

I liked Dice, but his tank was pretty damned empty when he rode off into the sunset.
    Exactly what I was thinking.

If he really unretires, get him. It's a no-brainer.

i agree with most of the sentiments:
    -really unexpected
-not sure how much he has left
-would rather see him at 38 over blair/bonner

We need to to find a way to get Kenyon MArtin somehow. His tenacious defense and rebounding would help tremendously.

He needs a reality check and understand that no one wants to sign him to a big contract.

Hmmm ... I don't know. Thirty-eight is pretty damn old for a bigman with surgically repaired knees. In theory, McDyess would be nice to have around but my guess is that he's done.

The Spurs could do worse than to bring him in and kick the tires but it'd be a miracle if he were still a rotation-quality bigman.

No please. I love him as a person but no. Unless we get rid of Blair/Bonner

this. I'm much more interested in Kenyon Martin but how long would it take Kmart to adjust to Offensive/Defense scheme, tbh.

As of right now, I just dont think McDyess would be much help over what we already have.....

Gosh, if this is true, I'm really surprised. Dice was pretty adamant about getting out of the game and getting onto the next phase of his life. During his final season, he talked about how difficult it was for his body to recover from game to the next, as he's gotten older. If the Spurs were better positioned on the frontline - meaning if they already had better optionts that Blair/Bonner - signing Dice would be a bonus. Because they do not, signing Dice is still riskly because, even though he'd be a slight improvement, he still doesn't fully address the Spurs shortcomings upfront.

Dice is just a great fit for Spurs on the paper.

First part of the equation is to know whether or not Dice is interested to come back in SA. If he comes back to get a ring, there are clearly better choice for him like Miami. If he comes back because he missed the game, Spurs would be on top of his list.

Second part of the equation is what he has left in the tank. There is only one way to find it out for Spurs is sending RC to Houston to see Dice working out.

If Dice is interested by playing again for Spurs and if he is still mobile enough, I'm all for Spurs signing him. They badly need a player like him.

Don't forget how Gasol and Randolph murdered Tim and Dice in 2011 in Rd 1.

They did get crushed by Memphis in 2011 but the effort was there. I remember Dice playing pretty solid defense on Randolph, the guy just absolutely couldnt miss. Gasol on the other hand was just too big and physical at the time. I hope he comes back and plays for the Spurs. He gave us some touhghness and he wasn't weakminded, which this team can always appreciate. At 38 he's probably still 10x the player Bonner is. I just really despise Matt Bonner. I don't know how there hasn't been an uprising with him ending up lynched.

Won't surprise me. New York has become the retirement home for some players.
This. Ive thrown that line at numerous knicks fans. Convalescent home at its best.

    Probably to NY

Miami doesn't need him and they already have a full 15-man roster and many backup BIGs. NY on the other hand needs a PF badly. Amare got hurt and they don't have anyone else. They have Chandler, Camby and Kurt's corpse.

He didn't seem like the type to blow his cash but maybe he's having financial issues and needs the money ? Hope that is NOT the case but given how much he wanted out of the game you have to consider it.

To be fair, Randolph was playing out of his mind that entire PO series.

As a fourth true big off the bench, it would help the Spurs out tremendously. That's if he still has anything left.
