I saw it coming too; I just didn't have time to post earlier.

I'm not going to go nuts over it and get carried away, but I will say this: Rebounding is quickly becoming a major issue.
The Clippers did to us what we did to OKC a few nights ago. Simple payback. Anyone with half a brain saw this one coming, so you guys can drop the whole Kreskin act. I mean, you nailed it in your "major issue" comment( ing lifeless sarcasm if that was meant ironically), but have you not visited the forum in the last 3 months? Why do you think the entire first page is covered in threads ing about the Spurs failure to pick up a long, defensive, rebounding 4? Teams like the Clips, with a lot of quick, athletic bigs are going to roast us alive on the boards whenever Duncan is out of the game. Every other big we have is ing soft as on the boards. We reap what we sow.

Why would anyone be worried about the Clippers, a team the Spurs swept out of the playoffs in one of the most lopsided playoff series ever? This happened about 6 months ago, and neither team has changed much. The only logical conclusion is that the Spurs are still the superior team and are expected to win every time they face each other.

Now, it goes without saying that "If X has a huge letdown, then X will lose the game." You can subs ute any team from any place from any time in that sentence and it works. It's based on circular reasoning, because having a letdown by definition predisposes one to losing a contest. So we really don't need to include this in our predictions or analysis. It can be assumed a priori.

    Genius.

Judging by that beatdown the clips administered to the lakers-this will be a tough one to win. Hope I am wrong but the clips look pretty damn good and as deep if not deeper than a deep spurs team.

I'm not the kind of guy that would say I told you so....but

Wow, I just watched the game ... have the Spurs ever looked that bad last season? Hopefully everybody is even more down to earth now and the Spurs just had a bad night ...

Plenty of times, and they'll look this bad (or worse) plenty of times this season as well. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. We aren't going to shoot 50% from the field, 40% from 3, and 85%+ from the free throw line for 105+ points every single game.

Did he say this? Was it audible on TV? Missed it and can't find it on the recording.

Wrong, the Clippers are a lot deeper and more balanced this year than they were last year...

You're not too bright, are you?

The Spurs beat the Thunder on a buzzer beater; the Clippers blew the Spurs out.

Teams like the Clips, with a lot of quick, athletic bigs are going to roast us alive on the boards whenever Duncan is out of the game
En route to sweeping the Clippers last season, the Spurs out rebounded them by 4.25/game, despite the fact that Duncan was "out of the game" for 14 mpg on average.

The Spurs led the league in defensive rebounding percentage last season and were tied for sixth in rebound rate. This season, they're tied for fifteenth in the former and they're twenty-eighth in the latter. So don't act like this is a longstanding issue.

    The problem is not that
Every other big we have is ing soft as on the boards.
because Splitter is a decent rebounder and Blair appears to be trending towards better than decent again. The problem is, Leonard, Diaw, Bonner and Green are well below their rate of last season, while only Blair is well above his. To compound matters, Leonard, Diaw and Green are playing significantly more than they did last season.

lol, they said that last year too. . .and nothing changed. We have a bunch of quick guys, but none of them can run an offense besides Parker. They can all shoot, but that's pretty much their main skill. Mills seems to have the most potential imo on both ends of the floor, but they don't play him too much. Probably a reason for that.
