I hate Spurs fans.
No backup PG, no backup PF that would even sniff the court on a contender, and a lot of super-saver contracts... We honestly can't be considered a deep team at this point, I mean who are we expecting to step up when the big 3 get worn down in the postseason?
Sure I'm overreacting to a tough loss, but when teams figure out that we have 2.5 legit bigs, 1 of whom actually rebounds but is ancient, you best believe they're going to exploit it like ape-hoop did tonight. The bench looks like when Ginobili is hurt/off.
Our big offseason move was Nando de Colo. And we drafted an undersized 2.
It honestly seems like we're content to coast to high seed playoff appearances and ride the Big 3's coattails to regular seasonchampionships

To fellow Spurs fans who are genuinely upset about this loss: We can't win them all...it's an 82 game season, we will lose several games throughout the year. We did not deserve this win tonight, everyone looked bad out there. Well deserved loss.
Mother ing bull , people. We're 4 and ing 1, and you're already ing. Calm down. Yeah..we're not going to go 82-0. DEAL WITH IT!!
The OP certainly proved timvp's point.
our leading scorer had 12... off nights happen. after one loss we're tied for the best record in the league.
premature ejaculation over 5 games start of the season...
While it's easy and legit to laugh a this kind of overreaction, the OP is too stating some true issues that exists for months.
The backup PG issue is on Pop. He has to give a real shot at someone else than Neal, who is a SG. Spurs have alternatives in their roster.
The backup PF issue is on RC. Spurs has to sign or trade for a legit bigman.
For the rest, I disagree on Spurs lacking depth. Pop is a master at limiting minutes and at keeping his top players fresh for the postseason. Complaining about who Spurs pick at #59 is a little odd too.
BTW, I'm not sure theses issues deserved to be talked again about because they already have been lengthy discussed.
I get people complaining about Denmon in that he's small. But if you're complaining about him, you have to complain about Hill in the same way. The Spurs have a process with drafting and getting role players with their picks, and I'm pretty sure that who they pick is heavily based on stats. Every stats model loved Denmon, and getting a guy who some of those models ranked in the top 10 at 59 is great. He might not work out(injury doesn't help), but the process is reasonable.
Also, Every team has flaws. For us, it tends to be defending athletic specimens at PF and Centre, and defending quick, dynamic backup guards.(Neal has issues) Guess what the Clippers have both of?
There are real issues, but this was also just game where we played badly. It happens. We're still (tied for) first in the conference.
Not surprised, tbh. The Spurs were historically good in their first four games - getting caught flat-footed by a team out for blood on their home court is a good way to regress to the mean.
Wouldn't put the final score in serious consideration especially when Pop white-flagged halfway through the 3rd, tbh.
Haha yeah, I'm waiting on a thread that talks about college players that we need to draft, I'm sure someone will meltdown and start researching PF's and C's that we could use(Even though it's literally way too early for that, I guess). I'm sure someone will post a thread like that after our next bad game or two.
Oh and the Bobcats forums probably don't have meltdowns threads, they probably have party threads for games that they win and games that they come close to winning.
Patty Mills could be a very very good backup PG if Pop give's him the chance and consistent minutes behind TP. There's no problem with our PG depth.
Early season meltdown! Idiots on the loose!
Shut up already.
The Spurs should add an good PF for the post season. Diaw is good, but Bonner sucks.
So, those that say it's just one game and at the same time, laughing at the op...do you believe this team can really "contend" for a championship? I don't really think the point of the post was to whine about a 4-1 record but to mainly point out how bad the spurs are in the paint. With another year passing, I'd say this is one of the, if not the weakest spurs team on the interior(since 99). I think with last years run, too many are thinking a trip back to the wcf (at least) is set in stone with this team. .. I mean for crying out loud, Blair and Bonner STILL get minutes and at the same time even!! That should tell u all ya need to know.
I feel like the spurs org keeps playing the same record, expecting a different tune..am I alone here?
No you're right.. but there's not much they can do tbh. No good FA wants to sign with San Antonio and none of our current role players are valuable trade assets.. without Pop's system a couple of our players probably wouldn't even be in the league. So, there's not a whole lot RC can do. Bonner's the only real head scratcher. I think Pop just likes having another white guy in the club house. Either way, we'll probably stick with this squad and end up with a top 4 seed in the playoffs, and then go home in the 2nd round, WCF if we're lucky. But we can't compete with the likes of Miami with this group. Let's be honest, Spurs most likely aren't winning another championship with this team. Just enjoy the last couple of years we have left of Tmmy and Manu, cause after they're gone, the dog days of Spurs basketball will be upon us.
