He had a TD vs Florida but I agree that LSU game really hurt his image at that time. Klein isn't a lock to win it although he's probably the front-runner at the moment. We'll see what happens these next couple weeks. Johnny will be in NY.
vs florida 173 yds passing and 60 yds rushing with 0 td's...
vs lsu, 273 passing yds and 27 yds rushing with o td's and 3 int's...
Those 2 losses will cost JM the Heisman this season..Klein has been steady all season and he doesnt play in a hurry up offense like JM which allows more plays through out the game. If yds is your indicator for the heisman take a look at the Oregon offense and I could probably come up with at least 2 players from that team as a heisman finalist..

Your right, JM had a rushing td against Florida, my mistake...I agree that both players should be in NY, but I just feel that Klein has been the more steady of the 2 and thats mainly from JM being a freshman and ups and downs that come with it.
If you go by stats you probably would have to send Marcus Mariota to NY too. I think Mariota is a better QB than Klein or Manziel actually.
He's the QB for Oregon.
I'll give him this much:
In that last game against Cal, he put up some impressive, Seth Doege-like numbers.
I think Mariota has gotten overlooked this season. The Standford game this week can make his resume look a lot better.
Mariota has the highest pass efficiency rating in college football. Just sayin...
I wouldn't say Mariota is getting overlooked, he just has to share the spotlight with Kenjon Barner.

No contest on the stats, but I still think K-state needs to lose one for Johnny to have a shot.
You are probably right. He deserves to win either way though. Assuming A&M wins its last 2 games.
What about interceptions or passer rating? (serious question)
Regardless of stats, Klein has 0 losses and Manziel has 2. That has to change for him to win.
Soooo, how bout you guys do the Ags a solid and take care of business next week?![]()
Manziel: 151.2 rating; 6 int's (336 attempts)
Klein: 167.4; 3 int's (208 attempts)
It isn't the 2 losses that is keeping Johnny from being the front runner. (RG3 had 3 losses).
What will end up hurting Johnny is the fact that there were only 2 weeks left in the season when he became a "legitimate candidate" to win this thing. If the Alabama game was 4 weeks ago then Johnny would have been on the map for all this time and voters would tune in every week to watch him and would vote for him. If he doesn't win the Heisman it's because all this hype is happening too late in the season and probably too late to change the mind of some voters. I mean there is only 1 more game this season that the voters will be able to watch Johnny and that's against Mizzou. Johnny needs to have an unbelievable game against them since its his last time in the spotlight. Many voters will be tuning into that game to see Johnny play. (This week A&M is not on TV).
In Manhattan with December weather against the team we can never beat for some reason? Anything is possible.
Oregon offense = passing stat inflation for a QB. I think I've seen Mariota complete about 3 passes over 10 yards in the air this year. Oregon passing offense is dink and dunk & then let some of the fastest WRs in the nation get to running.
Not that he's not good at running it, and may very well be a Heisman candidate someday, but he's not the best QB in the country.
RG3 had the benefit of a field that had no clear best player on top teams. Both LSU & Bama were defense driven (Honeybadger got to NY despite not even being best corner on his own team).
Klein is clearly best player on K-State. If the Cats can win out (still a big 'if', they could lose one or both these games if they lay an egg) - it's going to be really tough for him to be caught.
I agree. I just think the timing of all this is what is going to hurt Manziel the most.
If the voters had 4 or 5 games left to watch Johnny play on the national stage, there is no doubt in my mind Johnny would win this year. Fact is he only has 1 game left to change many minds. (and it's not against a very good team)
also can't see longhorns beating k-state. for one, k-state is a better team. secondly, horns have for, whatever reason, struggled against the cats.
