Diaw or Captain Jack for the start?
Will be aired on FSSW.
Knicks come into San Antone undefeated. Melo and JR Smith as of late have been playing out of their minds.
As it stands, the Knicks are a statistical juggernaut, ranking 1st in points allowed (defensively) and 2nd in points scored (offensively). They're first in point differential at 15.6+.
I'm not entirely sold on them yet but the addition of J.Kidd has, imo, changed the culture. They're clear runner up to Miami in the East at this point. It remains to be seen if they can keep this up for the full 82 game schedule.
Should be a good game, and I think the good guys will be their first real test in this young season.
Diaw or Captain Jack for the start?
Good question. The Knicks field a group of their own small ball version to start games...
I think you start Diaw. Good defender and quick enough to slow down Melo. Hope he hits a few early, just to remind the Knicks he can score.
I am hoping Manu does not play unless his back is 100%. Better to heal up now.
Diaw has been chucking up bad shots though. I think he needs to cool it from the three until he gets that under control. Shoiuld be an interesting game tonight because Knicks struggled against the Magic while Spurs played like $hit against the Lakers
How many 3s does Novak hit before Spurs fan starts another thread asking why we let him go?
Boris has an history of beasting vs the Knicks, plus even if he didn't he's the best option anyway, makes Tim better like no one else on the team and our best PF defender with SJax.
The guy shoots, on average, about 1 three per game; he is not a chucker.
Everyone calls the spurs old, but this Knicks team has like 5 players over 37
Still, they'll be a tough team. They've been playing well lately.
I still think they should run more plays for Diaw in the post so he is the focus of the offense (like 2-3 times per game).
+1 in the win column hopefully.
Expect tons of smallball, especially if Diaw doesn't make an impact early. The match-ups are intriguing:
- TD has been beasting lately, but should be tested vs Tyson Chandler
- Felton seems to do well against Parker, from what I remember
- Green needs to try and play lock-down defense on J-Kidd
- Splitter will definitely get some burn, given that the Knicks bench has Camby and Rasheed Wallace
- If Manu plays, he will be up against a red-hot JR Smith (he's shooting over 70% from 3)
- Bonner vs Novak for the le of softest frontcourt player in the league
Bonner by a country mile.
Think this will be the first time this season that I will get up and watch the game at 2:30am. New York started strong, but as often with hot teams its the job of the Spurs to cool them down. Just remember last season when Linsanity was at its peak ... San Antonio shut him down hard and defeated the Knicks. This season the Knicks are better because they play defense, but I think we still have a pretty good chance to slow them down. I am not worried about Carmelo, but about JR Smith ...

This game should be on TNT. It's the two best records in the NBA.
Interesting tidbit:
NBA - Spurs vs 5-0 Knicks
The Spurs face the 5-0 Knicks tonight. They have played a team that's at least 5-0 to start the season 7 previous times. The Spurs lost 6 of those previous 7 games with their only win coming in 1993 against...the Knicks.
It doesn't provide an iota of predictive value, but it's a fun stat to consider nonetheless.
Should be a good test. The Knicks are a very good team defensively, but they also have a good offense as well. Kawhi and Jax will have a lot of work to do against Melo and Parker won't score at will in the paint with Chandler and Camby out there.
Hopefully Boris plays more aggressive this game. He destroyed the Knicks last season playing for CHA.
Yea this game should be prime time on TNT. Two best records in the NBA matching up. Oh well, as long as we don't give up a bunch of offensive boards and Melo doesn't go into God mode, I think we got this.
The rundown
It’s not just that the Knicks have yet to lose a game, which is a shock in and of itself.
It’s that the NBA’s only unbeaten team has been utterly dominant in doing so, registering the No. 1 defensive rating, No. 2 offensive rating and No. 1 average margin of victory while playing the league’s second-toughest schedule. Not only that, the Knicks are the first team in 25 years to open the season with five straight double-digit victories.

Too bad Amare will eventually come back to everything up for them.
Going to be a hard game for the Spurs. Watching Kawhi on Melo is going to be exciting though.
Quoted for truth. They should just trade him now.
