PollyAnna Poppers one and all can recall the signs that led up to the shocking breakup of Gregor Popavich and Michael Finley.
Gasps followed as Jefferson made a shopping getaway to the cozy Bay Area -without Gregor!
Now Matty BonBons minutes have but cut in half -half!!

Are Greg CIA Pop and his genius use of Matty Bonner coming to an end?

I doubt it has anything to do with his play. He doesn't have enough minutes to draw even the smallest of conclusions from his play this year, but he looks to be playing the same Bonner style he's played every year.

My theory is the league is catching on to how to defend against the stretch 4's, and the Spurs are transitioning to a more traditional stretch-the-floor setup with smaller outside shooters. Now that teams are smarter about not sending their bigs out to defend players like Bonner, I'm guessing you soon won't get the pickup on point differential that you used to, and it's best to stay with quicker defenders. Bonner still has a role against certain teams (or lineups, I should say), but against others, there's not as much benefit this year as there has been in the past.

Pop realised Bonner will never be useful in playoffs and this season he has a better alternative in Diaw, who shots well, passes well for a bigman and plays defense.

    Defend Pop for benching Bonner?

Do you feel that is necessary?

Someone might explain why it took this long. How confident is anyone that he's actually been benched for good?

More like he spreads his ass so the other team's players can take turns abusing him every minute he's on the floor.

I can't say I was surprised Bonner didn't get minutes against the Knicks, but they're the sort of team that Bonner works best against. He could draw Brewer out of the paint, and neutralizes Novak (not that that was an issue yesterday).

Edit: On second thought, that's dumb... Brewer doesn't really play in the paint anyway. Sheed and Novak are basically wing players too, so I guess there wasn't much benefit after all.

We really made the right decision to let Novak go for Bonner.
