It's LeBron. That Stat you've used is ridiculous and pointless.

There is no reason to think that all of the good things and all of the bad things are equally important.

Why are team points and individual points equally weighted, clearly 1 of the 2 is more relevant to who the best player has been.

You've counted FT misses equally with FG misses, even though FT attempts only use a fraction of a possession up.(Use .44 or Whatever). Going 1/2 on 2 trips is a 0, going 1/2 on 2 FGA is a 1, despite using the same number of possessions for the same number of points. The Free throw shooter has also drawn fouls(a negative equivalent to a TO under your system)

Only counting misses ignores the fact of the extra value of threes(2-6 on threes would be 2 points in this system, 3-6 on 2's would be 3 points, the former is more valuable as the team has more offensive rebounding chances), Should use FGA to indicate possessions used.

Tim Duncan is good. But don't murder statistics to try and create support for your opinion. It's the worst. See you next time you want to argue with me, but you're wrong.

Odds of an offensive rebound on a FG is about 30%, but only about 5% on a missed FT.

Also, some FT attempts are not because of the value of the offensive player, like technical foul shots and intentional fouls, or just lucky fouls and bad calls.

So I am happy to weight a missed FT the same as a missed FG.

and on the other hand, many FG attempts are desperation shots and the end of a quarter of shot clock.

I am confident with my system.

    Come on.

TD is having a renaissance, but Lebron just carried his team to the finals.

Your weird stat is trying too hard to make a case where none exists.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/statistics LeBron is not only above Duncan in PER but has the highest EWA of any top player. Duncan has been truly great this year but LeBron continues to be the dominant player in the game - Durant, Kobe, Paul and a few others also playing at an exceptionally high level but LeBron will be the most likely (besides Durant) to sustain it over the season and into the playoffs and LeBron (1A) should be 1A > Durant (1B0 for MVP again baring injuries.

Regardless of how close the stats may be, you're choosing to ignore every other variable to appease your argument.

Actually, the OP's system is not that different than how Larry Bird used to determine who he thought should be MVP back in his day. It was:

Add up points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocked shots, then subtract missed shots, missed free throws, personal fouls and turnovers. Divide by the number of games played.

Players who approached a number close to 30 in this system were serious MVP candidates.
