Plus, i think a chance of scenery would do Pau a lot of good. He's expressed a desire to stay in the past but it just seems like he's tired of all the scrutiny/BS that comes w/ being a Laker.

He gets the majority of the blame while Kirby has gotten a free pass the last couple of years. Despite Kirby single handedly giving the Thunder series away and the fact that he couldn't even get out of the first round until Pau was gifted to him.

Called it when the D'Antoni signing happened. Good move for the Knicks and a lateral move for the Lakers.

Would still be a better trade than then Josh Smith BS that Lakersground is calling for
Tbh, Amar'e would be a downgrade for the Lakers... I actually respect Pau, even the current declining Pau is much better than that uninsurable, constantly-injured spaz Amar'e....

Lakers should be going after someone like Scola....smart...rebounds...great passer...hits the 18' j...team first player. *edit: and he's gritty unlike Pau

It cracks me up that LA has Kobe Dwight Artest Pau and Nash....and its STILLnot enough. What other team has the luxury of that line up? In fact, the Thunder had to trade one of their big 3 because they couldn't afford him. But no, the poor lakers still need more help.
You act like Amar'e is somehow a help, not a hindrance....

Didn't realize I was acting like anything tbh. My take had nothing to do with Amare.

The Suns can't trade Scola for a year, because they picked him up from the amnesty waivers.

The Los Angeles Lakers are not actively seeking a trade of Pau Gasol, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times.

Gasol trade chatter had increased in recent days in the media, coinciding with his struggles on the floor and significant contract that runs through the 13-14 NBA season.

Gasol has played in four different offensive systems over the past three seasons and clearly prefers the Triangle.

"It put me in a natural position, which was post. I could score and I could pass," he said. "It was a perfect fit for me when I got here and Andrew (Bynum) was out. I had a lot of minutes and it was a need to cover.

"Now it's a different personnel, different need, different look, different system, different positioning. As a professional, you adjust to a different position in your company and try to do your best so the company still finds you a valuable asset and the company still performs as well as it did before."

Gasol has been slow to adapt to Mike D'Antoni's system.

"We're all trying to get adjusted to the faster pace and running harder to our spots so the spacing's better, the flow is better," Gasol said.

Heck, why stop at Amare? The Lakers should get the 2005 Suns back together:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=chsxumg

They just need to find a way to get Diaw from the Spurs, and they'd be set.

Crofl.... remember when Mitch said the Lakers wouldn't make any moves after OKC knocked them out? Saying they won't trade Pau is like the kiss of death, tbh

I don't see how Amare and Howard can play together. Neither has a reliable mid range game and the Lakers don't have shooters to kick it out to.
The trade being either good or bad aside, I can't agree with that second statement. Whether Amare can return healthy or not is one thing. But hasn't he proven that if he is playing that he's one of the better midrange jumpshooting big men in the league? Especially now that his body is breaking down, that's the one thing he actually could provide, a reliable midrange game. I agree with the overall sentiment in the thread that it would not be a good trade for the Lakers. And I don't know if Amare and Dwight could play together. But it won't be because Amare doesn't have a reliable midrange game. That's one of the things he can bring to the table.

This is a great trade for the Knicks. Amar'e has been injured for the playoffs 2 years straight and as much as it pains me to say it is completely done. Gasol could be sick for NY.

If the mid-decade Suns couldn't beat the Spurs, I'm not sure they can in 2013.

Right now, the Lakers are looking at _allas as the example. If _allas can bring together a bunch of ex Clippers from the mid 2000s and achieve the same mediocrity like the Clippers, why not have the Lakers do the same? Nash, Bell, Amare.....ka-ching s.
and the Spurs will send them home again like in the good old days

Bosh is Miami's 2nd best player now, they won't make a Gasol swap.

In all seriousness though, like DoK said, Amare basically looks done. Even if he comes back, he's still a huge uninsured injury risk/contract. I can't see this happening, but stranger things have happened. I would imagine that if Pau was truly on the table, it would be more for depth than "a singular star or name value".

Meaning I couldn't see him being traded for a guy like Amare, but a couple pieces that fit well and add to depth (even though Coach Dan doesn't really care too much for that) .

Given how he meshed with Melo and TC in NY, even when healthy, I'd be concerned with the chemistry he'd have with Kobe and Dwight. He'd be a good floor spacer at PF with the occasional dunk that reminds people of what he could have been. That's about it. The thing that stands out to me when I watch him is how much traffic affects him now.

On one side you have a healthy 7 footer, the most versatile big man in the game. Nowadays, Amare is a dumb, injury prone black hole. So not happening.
