    Just another year, insert Scotti Brooks name, panic move after panic move, rinse and repeat.

    I'm not the kinda guy who would say I told you so...but...

    Let's call a spade a spade here-if anyone here can face some truth;

    Pop would make a pretty good GM if he could step back and stop coaching he could concentrate on personnel moves, trades,etc...

    A young coach with fire, discipline and talent is needed.
    Just look at the last two years in terms of MOTIVATION;

    Hollins: Pumping his team up with fire, encouragement,etc
    Pop: "They are professionals. I don't have to say anything."

    A year later:

    Brooks: "I wasn't going to take Durant out of the game. He has it in him to play 48 minutes-no excuses."

    Pop: "They are a better team." "It's a storybook ending for them and I am happy for them."

    Sometimes it sucks when you are right. I was afraid of this.

    Just like I said;

    Can the Spurs win a le in spite of Pop?

    Guess not.
    I never really looked at this thread because the first time I did it was filled with nonsense and I thought it was about basketball. As I read it now, I know I'm not alone. No one says Pop isn't a good coach, but sometimes you need fire and passion when all else fails. Let'em work in the front office and call it a day. We're cool when we're much better than the team we face, but let us face someone as good as us and it's over! It's been that way since 2000!!!! Great regular seasons, win a le or get destroyed. It's just time for a change.

    According to this guy (numerologist) it actually was Pop's fault that the Spurs lost;

    "Chemistry trumps experience,” he says, explaining the Thunder's series win over the Spurs.

    Another numerological issue for the Spurs' le hopes came in the form of Coach Gregg Popovich's birthday of Jan. 28. The total numerology (sum of the sum of a day’s total digits) of his birthday in the year 2012 is 7 (1+2+8+2+0+1+2=16, 1+6=7). Grinberg expressed back on Feb. 29 that 7 is a poor numerological number. He points to May's French presidential election as a form of evidence.

    "The president of France, [Nicolas] Sarkozy lost the election," Grinberg says of France's former president, who also has a Jan. 28 birthday. "These guys were not capable of winning this year. Just by Coach Pop's birthday, I could tell there was no way they were going to win this year no matter how many games they won in a row."

    Did you ever answer the question as to who you would rather have as a coach?

    Great thread, by the way. It went really well for you.

    You are in desperation mode Blake. This must be about the 10th thread of mine you bump.

    Actually, this thread confirms how the Spurs could NOT get a le - mostly due to Pop's panic moves. Again. No adjustments and the Splitter hate revealing Pop as a coach who can't even out-coach Scotty Brooks.

    2000 - the Spurs faced the Suns without Duncan
    2001 - the Lakers lost 1 game, in overtime, during that playoffs. DA was injured too.
    2002 - the Lakers were the favorites, it was closer than 4:1
    2003 - the Lakers were 100% favorites, the Spurs won the le
    2004 - the Lakers were the favorites, it went down to 0.4 for the pivotal g5
    2005 - the Pistons were the favorites, they actually scored more point in the finals, but the Spurs won the le.
    2006 - this one was on Pop, but the Mavs were solid opponents too
    2007 - the Spurs were favorites, they won the le. The series vs the Suns was close, they had more talent than the Spurs.
    2008 - the Lakers clearly had much talent, no shame there. The ousted the Hornets in 7 games, that one was close.
    2009 - The Spurs were not going to win the series vs the Mavs without Manu.
    2010 - The Spurs got swept by the Suns, Duncan wasn't moving well on defense, but its true Pop got out-coached. The Spurs won a close series vs the Mavs.
    2011 - The Grizzlies were much better, front court and perimetral defense.
    2012 - The Thunder had their big 3 in their prime, one of them top 2 player in the NBA, an elite wing defender, one of the best bigman rotations in the NBA. The Spurs had one top 10 player that season. It still went down to the refs that decided the last two games.

    Phil Jax is better 7 additional les say so, but Pop is damn good. The most recent season, the Spurs over-achieved with the WCF's, no one thought they were to get there.

    This season, the Spurs lose both SF's and still win games. I don't think they should change Pop.

    Maybe they could have tried with another coach after the 10 and 11 seasons, but the 12 season was solid, the FO should continue with Pop for this season too.

    What the is the point of this thread. I mean really? You guys don't like Pop? Fine. Name an alternative the Spurs could acquire. Humor me. Brian Shaw? Nate McMillan? No. I'll take Pop, please and thank you. The only other coach that would even enter the conversation is Zen, but he's retired. So enough with this Pop hate. Get outta here.

    You are basically proving my point Blake, thanks.

    Pop has pulled Bonner back and finally realizes what some of us said Y-E-A-R-S- A-G-O!!!!!!! He is now playing Splitter more than Bonner. How in' hard was that? Could of gone farther in the playoffs if genius coach had seen this when the rest of the Spurs fans did - oh wait--we don't have 4 rings!

    Thanks again Blake - you're obsession with me is backfiring on you.
