Green somewhat underwhelming now

What's wrong with danny green's shot right now? I've seen most of the games this year, and right now he reminds me of RJ. Of course, his defense is somewhat better. Anything agree with me, or am I just crazy?

He's always been a streaky shooter. One moment he looks like Ray Allen the next he looks like MKG, shot-wise.

    His floater is horrible however.

Absolutely hate his floater. Parker needs to teach him how to shoot it. I thought he was more than a just 3-point specialist though. Guess I might be wrong about that.

He's a decent finisher on the break and a passable cutter, fwiw.

He's looked solid this season. Strong 3 point shooter. Has a tendency to fly past his man on defense, but typically has good energy. His shot isn't broken at all, as evidenced by his "consecutive games with made 3s" streak that only recently ended.

To call him RJ is preposterous. Most importantly we're not paying him 10 million dollars/year to bring halfhearted effort on one end of the court each night.

Not calling him RJ; it's easy to see how he is better than RJ - he actually tries when he's on the court. Just trying to say that I almost never see him create his own shot, and that his 3's are kind of hot and cold (sort of like RJ). I thought he would have better production than he does now with starter minutes.

Green is an off-ball wing whose best attributes are hitting 3s, defense (particularly in transition blocks), and not taking away touches from the big 3.

It's a long season...one in which, a guy like d green is going to have his ups and downs. He's not going to come out and light it up, every night. If he did, the spurs would really have something. I just hope, if the team stays healthy, it doesn't come down to guys like himself and other role players. With the age of the big 3, I have my doubts. Would love to be proved wrong, however.

I'm not exactly sure what some Spurs fans are expecting out of Green. If he proves last season wasn't a fluke, that alone would be a success given his reasonable contract. He's not going to morph into a multi-dimensional player or anything. He's a guy who gives good energy on defense and can knock down threes with a quick stroke. He'll be worth his contract if he plays above average D and shoots ~40% on threes. Anything more is gravy.

Green doesn't have a high ceiling but as it stands he's the type of strong role player every team needs.

Being a younger, less defensive Bruce Bowen would be nice.

Of course, the difference is that Green can hit from anywhere beyond the arc reliably.

It's not him the Spurs need to blossom to remain good - that lies on Leonard, and to a lesser extent Splitter.

Werd. That floater is ugly, it looks like he throws it up with his eyes closed.

Exactly, Green is not a creator. The reason he can't really take advantage of the extra minutes he gets starting is because he can't really create his own shot. If he could create his own shot then he would probably not even be on the team anymore. Someone would have paid him more money than we could afford. Hopefully he keeps working on it and adds more stuff to his game.

Even in college he was a glue guy - Ty Lawson drove the engine, Tyler Hansbrough brought the hustle, and Wayne Ellington brought the buckets.

Okay, that's fair enough. After seeing some of the big games he had last year, I thought that he would be more like George Hill than Roger Mason Jr or Richard Jefferson(on the offensive end of the game). I guess I neglected to think about how his actual skill set, or pay close enough attention to his limitations. You guys are right about Danny Green.

He is a role player and a fairly solid one at that, don't expect miracles from him. At some point he'll hit a wall just like all NBA players do, but don't hit the panic buttton. It's a long season.

He's got limitations, but unlike Mason Jr and Jefferson he keeps hustling even when his shot isn't going. Both of those guys could become extremely passive

    Here Here!

It's nice to get some truth in here evey now and than. You handled the op's ramblings with class. I read it just gave it that "look" u know, the "what the u talkin bout ?" look.

Danny has been giving great hustle this year, stifiling at times on D, and a solid 3pt threat. I appreciate what he brings, I'm sure the coaches and players do too.

some of the high expectations may come from the fact that he starts most nights... doesn't make it right but it does up the expectations some. Until you put into perspective, i had a little loftier thoughts of the man.

Unfortunately, you currently don't get reliably out of Green's shot. He is clearly extremely streaky. He will win you games with hot streaks, but he'll lose you games with cold streaks. His biggest opportunity for improvement would be controlling this - he just needs to keep polishing that shot...

If he can shoot minimum 45% this season I'm fine with that.
