SC ST most underrated poster.![]()
yes on page 2 of Google search ( Ammonia smelling sweat) it's from liver or kidney disease.
Right below that its from not enough carbs underneath that its to much protein, under that forum is to many carbs and so on....
that is why i dis my own independent research and found the tap water is contaminated in Texas. The raw sewage seepage and bacteria count is off thew charts.
The bottom line is Scientists are not 1000% on what causes it.

Well thanks! But really it's just stuff nurses know![]()
You can link that for us, right?

No Mouse, scientists are 1000% sure that ammonia smelling skin is a result of end stage kidney disease. And they are 1000% sure it is also a result of a high protein, low carb diet. Are there other things that can cause it? Probably. Just like the symptom known as high blood pressure.....there are many conditions that cause it and scientists are 1000% sure of those, but that doesn't mean there aren't also other causes that haven't been determined yet.
LinkAmmonia smelling sweat is a result of using excessive amino acids during exercise, or not drinking enough water.

This Dr. says its from not eating enough pasta.
So if a couple of extra servings of pasta per week don't solve the problem, you'd better get your liver to the doctor for a few blood tests.

This Dr. says you have Ketosis,
linkYou have ketosis, just like the people on the Atkins diet, without the weight-loss benefits. Congratulations.
When the body burns fats, it produces ketones, which smell like ammonia. It's supposed to further burn those ketones down into carbon dioxide and water, but it can't always do that.

This Dr. says its from Bacteria
linkBacteria cause it.Body odor is a byproduct of the metabolic process of various bacteria, primarily corynebacteria and micrococci, which break down organic substances found on the skin, in sweat or on clothing.

This Dr. says its from not enough water and fat.
This man says its from drinking to much coffee.sweat smells like ammonia? not enough water and fat.I have been smelling amonia in my sweat. saw online that it could be from my body starting to use my muscle as energy. i am low carb and low fat is that my problem? my diet is 46% fat, 32% protein, 22% carbs. good carbs veggies and maybe an apple or single piece of fruit. I eat between 1600 and2000 calories a day and about 60 to 70 grams of fat usually. have lost 80lbs total. 45 way of the primal.
linkI had this problem and tried everything until I realized the smell was linked to coffee/caffeine consumption. It was simple- no caffeine no smell, cup of coffee- smell is back.

This man says its to much nitrogen in the kidneys.
linkYeah, it happens. Your body uses amino acids for energy when glucose isn't available. To do this, it must take the nitrogen off of the rest of the molecule. The rest of the molecule can then be converted to glucose and used as energy.
This still leaves the nitrogen lying around. It usually will bind to other compounds and become urea in the kidneys which is then excreted.
However, during prolonged exercise your kidneys may not be able to handle the amount of nitrogen being processed and the nitrogen will be excreted as sweat resulting in the ammonia smell.

This man says to eat more apples.
linkIf an apple or two before your workout doesn't help, you could try reducing your protein intake.
http://caloriecount.about.com/forums...s-like-ammonia
this person says its from high protein.
linkA high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet is generally what leads to sweat stinking of ammonia. Basically, it works like this. When someone with this sort of diet begins to exercise, his or her body is quickly forced to turn to proteins for the necessary energy. To do this, amino acids are broken down into various components, parts of which are converted into glucose. Other elements that come out of the process are waste products, and if the body can't handle everything being sent its way, the leftovers are excreted out through the skin. Ammonia is one form that ready-to-go waste can take.

This Dr. says the oppisite its not from protein.
linkit's not from eating Sweat contains ammonia, and with strenuous exercise, more ammonia is produced and sweated out. In some people, enough ammonia is present to give its characteristic odor to their sweat.
The more strenuous or lengthy the exercise session, the greater the amount of ammonia that gets into sweat.
In clinical studies, ammonia went up in people’s sweat regardless of the type of exercise or what they had eaten first. There’s no proof that an ammonia smell in sweat means you aren’t eating enough protein, or working out too strenuously, or anything in particular.
Not everyone produces and excretes ammonia at the same rate, so one person’s sweat may have a stronger ammonia odor than someone else’s, even if they are exercising about the same amount.

come on Mouse, medical research is as all over the ballpark on damn near every subject, as are "Christians" on self-interpreting/cherry-picking the Bible to match their prejudice and hate.
more to come
Heavy meth users have this problem...
Define heavy,
well "any" would be heavy for me but ummm semi-daily
Allow me to define heavy...
.
The weight of my cyber foot up someones ass when they ask for Proof and research and I provide it is really a super duty Heavy steel toe boot if you was to reverse engineer it.
I can't help but notice none of that research supports your theory.
I'll ask again.
What research?
