This is getting rediculous....
Updates on coaching changes from the 24/7 rumors board...
-Chris Petersen has supposedly turned down Arkansas. James Franklin of Vanderbilt and Gary Patterson of TCU have done the same. Art Briles of Baylor is the hot name now.
-Auburn has reportedly interviewed Arkansas State's Gus Malzahn. Alabama defensive coordinator, Kirby Smart, and Clemson offensive coordinator, Chad Morris, are also on the interview list. A final decision is supposed to be made this week.
-Jimbo Fisher intends to stay at Florida State.
This is getting rediculous....
Another JUCO name to possibly keep an eye on, per 24/7. RB Rodriguez Moore is a prospect that could be making a trip to Austin this weekend for banquet. He also attends East Misissippi CC. He's originally from Bastrop, LA and committed to Texas Tech in mid-November. Bo Davis will be in Scooba, MS tomorrow to check on him, DE Za'Darius Smith and S Shaquille Fluker. Hopefully all three guys will finalize official visit plans to UT for this weekend.
Darrell Wyatt will be visiting WR James Clark of New Smyrna Beach, FL on Wednesday in hopes to set up an official visit to Texas (24/7). Just a reminder that Clark will not be available to attend banquet this weekend because he already had a visit to Northwestern scheduled and wanted to keep his word.
What's the deal with us going after recruits who are committed to smaller schools such as northwestern? Why are we not trying for the top players in the nation? It seems as if the coaches just write off that they can not get them, I'm tired if trying to steal recruits from Baylor when we should be trying to steal more from Bama or USC...
, since those same top rated players the horns have gotten over the past 3 years have been so great. Time to recruit players for the system the horns want to run (whatever that is) instead of getting players who are considered elite and then finding out later they are average in the longhorns system.
Just to clarify...WR James Clark is uncommitted. He's considered a late bloomer and he's been talking to smaller schools such as Northwestern for a long time. He decided to visit there first because of that reason, but is still open to UT. We should know more on him after Wyatt visits on Wednesday.
As a guy involved in high school camps I can shed light on the 'highly recruited guys' busting out, in particular at Texas. The top recruits are always promised immediate playing time and the overwhelming majority of them just aren't prepared to play as a freshman. Not only are these guys put in too early, but doing so busts their confidence to some extent when they are humbled on the field against more seasoned players.
The staff has been in desperation mode in recent years so we've been playing guys that should obviously be redshirting. It kicks the problem down the road. And that is why we are recruiting JUCO players so hard once again trying to make up for those mistakes. It is desperation at work.
Update on JUCO QB Tanner McEvoy from OrangeBloods....Mack will not be meeting with his parents this week. He was in New York for a couple of days and planned on stopping in New Jersey but those plans fell through for some reason. No formal offer was extended to McEvoy yesterday after he met with Harsin but they intend on speaking again in a few days to discuss a future visit and the academic side of things. Harsin also told him he'd like to meet his folks before he makes a decision.
Will Muschamp has hired former Kentucky coach, Joker Phillips, to be his WRs coach and recruiting coordinator. Turns out Phillips is the godfather of 2014 S Jamal Adams who was once considered a heavy Texas lean. Could be a storyline to watch considering Texas' future looks shaky at the moment.
Quotes from JUCO QB Tanner McEvoy (OrangeBloods):
"It was good. We were basically just getting to know each other," McEvoy said. "He didn't officially say I have a scholarship offer but he kind of talked like I did."
"We talked about things like trying to see if I can get there, graduate by December and enroll, get there in January, things like that."
"He said I need to go visit before I decide, he wants to meet my parents and things like that," McEvoy said. "They want to go over some things like the academic side of things."
"I was impressed. He's a great coach. When he was at Boise, he was really successful. He's still a young guy, very energetic, which is the kind of guy I'd like to play for," McEvoy said. "He was very truthful about their quarterback position and the compe ion. I'm all for that."
"I would like to wait things out a little bit. I wouldn't commit or anything," McEvoy said.
Multiple outlets, including Arkansas' Rivals site, reporting that OK State head coach, Mike Gundy, will be the new coach of Arkansas. Announcement to come tomorrow.

WTF? Way to step down there buddy.
Eldridge Massington decommits from USC, is "open" to all schools. I don't know why he would want to come here, but we need a WR, get on this Texas.

Also Malcolm Brown clearly stated on twitter that he is NOT transferring and has no desire to do so.
Without knowing anything about what went down, my first thought is Kiffin pulled the scholly or encouraged him to move on.
It's worth pointing out that he has a teammate, Kam Miles, committed to a&m.
I don't know if they have any more room for commits though considering they have somewhere around 35
That job search continues to be a circus. Check these out:

Just heard who the next Coach of Arkansas will be. If true, an absolute shocker. Should know in next few hours.
(@WallyLikeItIs):
"Hogs have their coach, Not Gundy. Should be announced today."
It sounds like we can say goodbye to Harsin.
Definitely. They have eleventy billion guys committed and every time I tell myself "they don't have any more room", a couple of more guys jump on.
Yahoo! now saying Wisconsin head coach, Bret Bielema, to Arkansas.

More craziness from Texas according to 24/7...
-Texas is expected to see at least one more JUCO QB this week but no names have been released yet. Sounds like the coaches aren't as dead set on McEvoy as reports made it seem yesterday.
-Texas is expected to offer more 2014 prospects this month.
-And the craziest...the 2015 class has arrived. Texas is looking at offering up to 10 sop res in the near future. Mack Brown is expected to make several of these offers in person when he does his routine school visits before National Signing Day.
Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!! Holy . We're desparate as . Let's just offer eighth-graders and be done with it.
