Valencia sacks Mauricio Pellegrino

Mauricio Pellegrino has been sacked as coach of Valencia, the club said Saturday.
Pellegrino only took up the reins in May, but Los Che -- currently 11th in La Liga but just four points off a Champions League place -- decided to dispense with his services after Saturday's 5-2 defeat against Real Sociedad at the Mestalla.
"We have been exchanging views, and we made the decision to dismiss Mauricio Pellegrino," president Manuel Llorente said.
Real Sociedad moved into seventh in La Liga with the comprehensive demolition of 10-man Valencia.
Roberto Soldado's second-minute strike had given the hosts an early lead but they were never in control and were pegged back before halftime as Alberto de la Bella fired in an equalizer minutes after Jonas had seen a straight red card for lashing out at David Zurutuza.
Sociedad took control in the second period as further goals from Mikel Gonzalez, Diego Ifran, Imanol Agirretxe and Carlos Vela rendered Soldado's second of the evening meaningless.
Elsewhere, Getafe moved level on points with Malaga in fourth place thanks to Alberto Lopo's solitary goal 11 minutes into the second half.
