Thanks for the grades (as usual). Nice to see your expectations for De Colo are going steadily up. A few games ago he would have deserved an A+ for this kind of production![]()
Tim Duncan B+
Wasn’t moving particularly well but still shut down the paint and was an asset on offense.
Manu Ginobili A-
Smart, controlled basketball. Great passes. Shot well. Rebounded with passion.
Tony Parker A
Machine-like precision on O. Passes perfectly timed. Scored from various angles. Unstoppable.
Danny Green A+
Apparently his shooting slump is over. Found open spots consistently. Brought it on D as well.
Gary Neal B-
Decent defense. Quality passes. Didn’t force it too much.
Boris Diaw B+
Active once again. Rebounded and pushed the pace. Repeatedly found the open man.
Nando De Colo B
Extreme aggression in all aspects. Good D and rebounding. Made plays and passed well.
Tiago Splitter A-
Another production-filled outing. Very good D. Ran the court. Routinely shredded Bobcats on interior.
Patrick Mills B+
Continues to shine as a shooting guard. Speed and outside shooting a deadly combo.
Matt Bonner B+
More admirable rebounding. Very active in the paint. Defense solid.
James Anderson B+
Lively on both ends. Hit the glass. Ran hard. Played rugged defense.
Cory Joseph Inc.
A bit sloppy but otherwise continues to show a tempting set of tools.
Pop A-
The Spurs got through this back-to-back unscathed minutes-wise. Rotations made a lot of sense.

Thanks man.
True. He's progressing at such a fast pace that I had to lower his grade from a B+ to a B since nothing he did was much of a surprise at this point.
I don't think Manu should've played at all in the second half. This would've been the perfect game to rest him. We were all ready up by a lot to where they didn't even need him and he seems to always get hurt when playing during trash time. It's great to see our team though hitting on all cylinders.
Thanks Timvp, I think that's record time.

Thanks for the time in doing these grades and game thoughts.
Today's game felt like a summer league game.
timvp, was wondering if maybe you'd want to add thoughts/ratings to the Spurs opponent for future games.
Would be interesting to get some brief thoughts on how you felt the Spurs opponents did or how they could look moving forward.
Just a thought.
Thanks for idea. I did something similar earlier this season. I'll think about how to best incorporate it![]()
Seconded. Obviously, the quality of opponent has a lot to do with the outcome of a game. I like your post-game write-ups a lot, but I sometimes wish the quality of the opponent was factored in. Playing well against Miami is a lot different than playing well against Washington. Or Charlotte. Anyway, something to think about.
This b2b was the start of a very complicate stretch of 8 games in 12 days with a lot of travels. That's damn nice that both game end in a blowouts with nobody playing more than 26 minutes in either game.
Good teams win against bad teams. Great teams destroy bad teams without too much effort. Seven guys in double figures and no one played a lot of minutes. Great outing.
Dude... the guy has like 4 kids; in addition, he's coming off a recent liver infection which almost killed him at a tender young age. He's dedicated so much time to this site already, especially this year. He shouldn't be asked to do more. Maybe if it's a crucial opponent like the Thunder, Grizzlies, Lakers, Heat etc then he could evaluate/grade those teams' star players, but other than that he shouldn't be expected to do much more than he already contributes. Requests like that are the problem in America, it's like the kid that got the bag of candy complaining that he didn't get the bag of potato chips too.
Bonnner's rebounding may have been great but his inside defense was just terrible. He coudn't stop biyombo so he resorted to fouling him.
45%+ of this game was garbage time
Is that you kori?
btw, thanks for the writeup timvp, I always enjoy reading your thoughts and grades
Bobcats Coach Mike Dunlap heaps some heavy praise about the Spurs -

He called us a "model" for what they aspire to do. He said we were "further along" [in the ability to execute offensively] than the New York Knicks, and he called us a bonafide championship contender.
thanks timvp for quick turnaround.
I noticed Kawhi was chilling there (same facial expression). The announcer said he was brought along because they might start using him soon but i thought they were waiting til Boston. what game you think he'll start playing again?
You are winning +30 in back2back away, you limite minutes so what more can you do? A+ Pop.

The good thing about the Spurs is that with the depth and the ability to spread space you have the ability to sustain injuries to key players like Stephen Jackson and Kawhi Leonard. It's nice to see Gary Neal reestablish himself in a healthy fashion and for Danny Green to get out of his slump. De Colo seems like a nice addition overall. If we could just find a way to get another big in instead of having CoJo out there that'd be great. PS. Thanks timvp, you do a great job with these all the time. As long as we win, I could care less about opponent grades. I feel they would be more helpful in losses maybe.
