I took the +4 for Houston (shoulda waited, it's 5.5 now) bc I expect a close game.
Houston statistically checks out as the better team. Both teams have had easy schedules. I love their balanced ball control offense that can keep Brady off the field. even with injuries, their defense is still one of the better ones New Englands played all year. NE's offense hasn't looked immortal against some of the best defenses they played. I see Andre Johnson as a mismatch for the Pats' secondary. Houston is +.4 yards per play, New England is even due to its shoddy defense.
At the same time.... Brady is excellent against the blitz, which means the normally blitz heavy Texans have to adjust their gameplan. It is the best offense in the NFL by far, and with the injuries Welker can be a problem. JJ Watt is excellent, but the Texans' don't have any other pass rushers. If Pats' devise a scheme to contain Watt, it could be BRady shredding the Pats.
But since I expect a close game, I'll take 4 points with the Texans, who I believe are better than the Patriots.
I'd go with the Texans and the 5.5 too.
Concur they need Foster to keep Giselle off the field.
Shootout favors the Pats, imo
Appreciate the fact that the Patriots pass defense is pretty lousy this year, coming in at 27th in yards per pass attempt and 23rd in opponent passer rating.
But the past 6 weeks, they have played against teams unable to exploit this weakness, playing against teams ranging from 19th-29th in QB passer rating.
Houston can exploit this weakness.
Now how many..THE BIG GAME...has Houston played in, how anout the Pats?
I think the pass defense thing is misleading, considering most teams have had to abandon the run to keep up with Brady
