Anyone got a problem with it? As far as I'm concerned if you are a professional basketballer and can't shoot 50% from the line it is your own fault for this tactic being employed on you. I just don't see how its possible to shoot that poorly from the line as a professional

just bricks them freebies on purpose to look more similar to shaq maybe, despite not being closely as good. DH is such an average 1-on-1 offensive player you don't really need hack-a-him to prevent him scoring but it's still a good choice to send him to the line as a method of disrupting his team's offense imho

He had a great game from the line earlier in the season too, but he will always regress to the mean. I wouldn't be surprised to see him shoot < .400 from the line in 4 games of a 7 game series. Gotta wonder if the Lakers can possibly win with such poor shooting.

This topic has already been extensively discussed, but I'll go ahead and throw out my standard rebuttal....

Free throws are a part of the game, just like dribbling, passing, and shooting. If a player has a weakness, then you exploit it. If that weakness happens to be putting him on the free-throw line, well then foul until the cows come home. In my opinion, it's no different then pressuring a bad handler, a big posting up a smaller player, or a fast player dribbling around a bad defender.

Does it affect the flow of the game? Definitely, but that can be part of the advantage. Why would you let a guy continue to bully you and dominate you inside, when you can just send him to the line and watch him brick shots that he is not comfortable with, all while taking all of his teammates out of rhythm and taking the crowd out of the game?

If any player who spends their professional life playing basketball can't hit free throws at at least a 60% clip, then they deserve to have that put to the test. I had no problem with us doing it to Shaq, I had no problem when the Thunder did it to Splitter, and I found it ing hilarious when the Magic did it to Dwight.

Tbh, I don't have a problem with hack-a-big in small doses... but when it's your only coaching strategy (Mark Jackson) or when Pop makes an entire playoff series unwatchable with that strategy, it really does suck....

If the fans are being cheated by sitting stars, they are being cheating by watching a FT shooting contest.

Fundamental difference, hack-a-shaq was meant to keep Shaq from scoring so easily. Hack-a-Dwight is just because hes that bad at free throws.

It's more fun to watch the ass hurtings of Laker fan boi and ESPN while the Lakers go headlong into the abyss with their rapist/hero chucking shots at a record pace.

    Flagrant foul for hacking?
Only if its Dwight being hacked.

The LA elite have been feeling they deserve a ROI since the early Lebron/Kobe Nike Dan/Dave like build up/flame out. They never got to see the Finals matchup. The league has done everything it it's power in attempts to force this matchup, but when it happens in regular season, the Lakers get curb stomped and booed off their home court by their own fans.

They do the Pau scam and that gets them the Finals but Lebron cannot get there. Lebron goes to Miami to team up with Wade and Bosh and they make it to the Finals, but Kobe cannot get there because Dallas stomps the out of them since Pau's pussy was hurt when a bench monkey played in the snow. Following season, Phil has quit and Lebron's coach is hired (hey, who knows Lebron's weaknesses better than Mike Brown?). Lebron is back in the Finals however, yet again, the Lakers get their pushed in but this time by Russell Westbrook/Kobe chucking combination. Kobe is now getting old, past the point of the matchup even being relevant (this is like the Tyson/Holyfield matchup that didn't happen because rapist gotta rape).

Lakers magically draw Dwight Howard to the team, Brown gets fired and Mike D'Antoni gets hired. By now Buss Jr is running the team, Kobe is irrelevant to anyone but ESPN and those who treat Kobe's nuts like the water cooler at work. Kobe is in full out "get mine" mode. He's now forgotten about the Lebron James matchup and is trying to salvage some dignity by giving his fans something to talk about in the form of a 30K scoring milestone. Hey, if you aren't going to win a ring, might as well at least talk about regular season achievements. The natives are restless however, the game isn't as monkeyballish as the Clippers' games, and it's not the LA they envisioned when Howard came aboard and all the fat LA be@ners chest bumped and celebrated their new en lement championship. Something was awry, something was wrong when teams like Houston beat the Lakers. Someone has to fix it. Someone needs to start discussions about fixing the Lakers because that should be the priority in all of sports. It's not about other teams, them. They only exist out here because of the Lakers. I know, we need to change the rules so that Dwight's ty FT shooting cannot be exploited. Yeah, make it a flagrant if someone wraps Howard up away from the ball. That way Howard can take the ball out of bounds and the Lakers can keep their momentum and Dwight doesn't have to suck the game away with his ty FT shooting. Yeah everyone knows that neither Adande or the little mini-be@ner gave a last year when Splitter was being intentionally fouled, but now it's happening to Howard in LA. Howard in Orlando, no big deal. Howard in LA, that's something that needs Stern's attention, for basketball reasons.
