If Dwight leaves next summer, the Lakers are totally ed next season regardless. Gasol isn't gonna randomly start playing like he did in '09 or '10, so they'd have a giant weakness up front either way if they lost Dwight and have like an $80,000,000 payroll without Dwight so they'd have little to no way of adding talent.
I'm wondering if in the Nash trade, the Lakers made the same mistake Kerr made when he traded 2 picks to Seattle for them to take Kurt Thomas and arrogantly forgot to lottery protect them. Does anyone know if those Lakers picks are unprotected?
