The only reason LA reloaded so quickly after trading Shaq was because of Jerry West arranging the Gasol trade, who everyone agrees is a good GM. Before the teacher saved the student's career, all the student was doing was making horrible trades ( Butler for Kwame), drafting horrible players ( Javarris Crittenton), and handing out horrible contracts that would ruin cap flexibility ( Walton, Radmanovic, Vujacic).

If he was the GM of any other team he'd be one of the worst GM's in basketball.
