Sad but true.

1. I don't want to get on a soapbox but ...
It was fitting, really, that Texas finished another disappointing season earlier this month with a big loss to Kansas State.
No other program more clearly defines or better illustrates the state of the Texas program under Mack Brown than Kansas State.
Kansas State: winning by overachieving.
Texas: losing by underachieving.
“I really believe we’re headed in the right way, in the right direction,” Brown says.
And you want to believe him, you really do. There’s not a more perfect fit for Texas than Brown; the charming, graceful yet punchy-when-he-has-to-be coach who has won big at Texas—but now can’t stop a disturbing down cycle.
Before the Kansas State game earlier this month, Brown said he didn’t have an answer for the Longhorns’ struggles against the Wildcats. They’ve lost to K-State when they had the better team, and lost when they didn’t.
They lost at home, on the road and with one of the teams playing for a championship. All told, five straight losses.
The question: How?
The answer is simple: coaching.
In the three seasons since Texas last played for a national championship in 2009, the Longhorns are 21-16 with no double-digit win seasons, no conference championships and a 2-11 record vs. ranked teams.
In those same three years, K-State—in its second stint under coach Bill Snyder—is 28-10 with two double-digit win seasons, one Big 12 le and a 7-6 record vs. ranked teams.
Now, the biggie: in those three years, Texas has finished third, third and second in the Rivals.com recruiting rankings. K-State finished 63rd, 68th and 58th.
Texas signed 54—more than half an 85-man roster—elite four- and five-star recruits. K-State signed three.
In the last three seasons, K-State beat Texas by a combined 98-51—yet there was Texas president Bill Powers earlier this month steadfastly standing behind Brown with a public statement that Mack has his “full support.”
Two straight blowout losses to Oklahoma. The Longhorn Network is barely breathing. Rival Texas A&M is thriving in the SEC, and new rival TCU went into Austin on Thanksgiving Night and beat the Longhorns.
Mack Brown embodies everything that’s good and right about college football. He’s just not winning enough anymore.
And that’s what this eventually will become—more than likely, by this time next year.
According to my friend Sumlin just said in press conf that he has withdrawn and is deciding on whether he returns, takes time off, or transfers.
I can directly confirm that coaching staffs are having a field day recruiting against Texas using stats like this. A couple recruits I know say that stats get brought up negative recruiting Texas by every single coaching staff, but in particular the Ags are being extremely aggressive. Certainly can't blame them.
According to Rivals all 6 JUCO commits Texas Tech had, signed with Cincinnati today.
What's his deal?
I saw three. The ones Tubs recruited from mississippi.
I wonder if those jucos will use up their eligibility before Tubs moves on to someplace even lower.
I think Tubberville realized that the expectations at Tech are much higher than reality of where anyone not named Saban can take them.
WR Eldridge Massington committed to UCLA earlier this week.
I'm curious as to why those JUCO's would rather go to a smaller program in a conference that is imploding and will likely wind up as a non AQ conference. Even with all of Techs warts, playing in the Big 12 had to have been a better option. I guess they are JUCOs for a reason.
With a juco, you pretty much have to guarantee them starting position from day one.
I'm sure they got that guarantee from Tubs
As bad as the talent level is at Tech, the would have started.
Not if they wanted to develop the younger guys
Figured the media would pick this up. Some of you may have seen this on TNT when Johnny Manziel was sitting courtside:

LOL aggsy are quick learners when it comes to SEC style cheating
Sorry for the late response on this. I've linked an article that updates things with both Tony and his sister. With Tony, I still think it's LSU and then everyone else with A&M and Texas being legit back-up schools. The school that his sister picks supposedly will have a quite a bit of influence on him and she'll be making her commitment at some point in January. Another thing that can't be overlooked is an "in" that LSU has. It's a weird connection but Tony's godmother is the adopted daughter of LSU's defensive line coach, Brick Haley.

Thanks for this. Kid is a stud.
LSU also has an "in" with 2014 WR Speedy Noil...he happens to be a cousin of LSU RB coach Frank Wilson.
i get it...kerr went to arizona, manziel was all friendly with harden who went to ASU...
SEC style cheating must trump big XII cheating
And Noil's high school coach, Jabbar Juluke, is the uncle of 2014 S Edward Paris. Two guys that were never happening for Texas.
Kerr had no basis for his insinuation other than a college kid was sitting courtside. Apparently Manziel's family is rich, and I think he gets money for Heisman-related appearances also. He's already said he bought it himself for his birthday (he's a LeBron James fan).
Kerr is a jackass. Didn't he try to extort an extension from the Spurs by threatening not to play any more in the playoffs after the 2003 WCF unless they extended him for another season? And back in the Suns-Spurs series, he kept trying to argue (as a commentator) that Duncan should be suspended like Amare (while conveniently forgetting to mention his conflict of interest - Kerr was invested in the Suns).
By the way, I've read that A'Shawn Robinson is bolting Texas for USC. Can anyone confirm?
