That doesn't mean Sac wants to make a deal with them, though. Though admittedly they'll probably take what they can get.

You think Sactown would be okay with not getting a C back?
I really can't say. Sacramento is a complete mess, so who knows what they would want. All I know are the Kings and Rockets have made multiple deals in the past (Martin, Artest, Jackson), not saying they are guaranteed to trade him to Houston, but who knows.

So would you be content after a Cousins trade? Do you think the Rockets should stand pat if they acquire him, or are there other moves that still need to be made for them to reach the next level beyond just development and chemistry?
I'd be content. Whether or not they stand pat after would depend on what they would have to give up. This year is supposed to be a developmental year anyway, and if they get Cousins, it kinda speeds things up, just like when they got Harden.

I think the Kings are having a harder time filling the power-forward spot than the center spot. Robinson and Thompson are pretty good prospects for centers. Houston has a couple of centers to give back, though, like Aldrich and Montiejunas. That's another reason why the Rockets make the most sense. However, they may be able to grab one from the Bucks in a multi-team trade.

The Rockets don't have the assets Imo, and the Jazz has big expiring contracts and young studs.

It's well do ented Morey has had a hard on for Cousins for a very long time. Even tried to trade up in the draft to get him.
sounds to me as if Djohn2008 is the one with the Cousins hard on

business is business head...who would have thought the nuggets would have helped us acquire D12. Ultimately the prospect of getting something valuable in return (in this case Pau ) trumps all petty grievances...good thing you're just a whack job instead of a GM.

Of course the Rockets have the assets. They have good young players and cap room, which is even better than expiring contracts. Favors is a good piece, but the Jazz wouldn't move him for a headcase. I could see them trying for Freddette if they were having a hard time selling tickets, though. In that case, moving Kanter and Burks for Cousins and Freddette seems like a better deal to me.

Howard is one giant headcase as well and every team still wants him, Cousin has too much potential not to go for something bigger than the Rockets spare parts.

Cousin is first option material, Favors won't ever be.

So you think teams are going to propose deals to Sacramento and NOT lowball them?

He's not Howard. Howard is a head case who's won the DPOY four times. Cousins is a head case who gets bent over by every legitimate big who goes up against him and who offers little in the way of help defense. Favors is a better prospect than Cousins right now, in my opinion. If the Kings expect to get a young player as good as Cousins in return, they are going to be disappointed.

Yes. Plenty of teams do get desperate for a first option, see Rockets last summer.

Sacramento may actually be more interested in veterans than young players, anyway. I think they're getting tired of no one really knowing what to do on the court, and a good vet leader may help them succeed. Who has that to offer? The Rockets to some extent, the Jazz if they are willing to part with Milsap. Maybe Dallas could move someone for him. But honestly, I think the Kings will get a collection of good, but not great assets. I think every team in the league has the assets to get him. I just don't think many really want to. They'd rather wait a couple of years to see if he can get his act together.

In Howard's case, teams eventually got tired of his indecision and demands to go to one team. Cousins just got suspended indefinitely for an altercation with his coach for the second time, decreasing his trade value. Sacramento and Cousins bring out the worse in each other and teams notice that. Yeah teams want him, but if the Kings try to up trade demands teams will ask why they should risk giving up so much for a locker room cancer.

I think you're both crazy, Howard the coach killer is still the biggest FA in the upcoming offseason.

Stabing a coach in the back doesn't affect the value of a player that much, DWill's value didn't really take a hit either.

The Bucks could maybe send a nice package too, like the Jazz they have young studs but no legit first option.

Cousins isn't a first option, though. At least not yet. He's putting up numbers on a dysfunctional team, but he's not the type of player you can build a system around, like Howard. Dwight was the best defensive player for years in a row before he finally got traded for what was really not much value. Cousins has potential, but he hasn't proven he can capitalize on it. Plus, Cousins has already killed a coach, and he's trying to do it again.

I agree the Bucks can make a good effort to get him, but I don't think they want to. They don't lack a number one right now. They lack experience and a stable system. Cousins doesn't help them with that.

The third-year big man had a verbal altercation with coach Keith Smart during halftime of the Kings’ loss at the Clippers on Friday and was left in the locker room for the entire second half as a result. Two people with knowledge of the incident told USA TODAY Sports that nothing of a physical nature occurred between Cousins and his coach and that the yelling went back and forth between both men. Cousins, according to one of the people, used extensive profanity while sharing his latest frustrations.

“It’s not something that just showed up yesterday, last year or two years ago or five years ago,” [Petrie] said. “But he’s our player so we want to work with him to get past this so he can be what everyone sees is possible.”
Cousins has alienated teammates with his verbal tirades to the point players give him the ball rather than feel his wrath.
