I completely forgot about the ty air quality.
A lot of jobs to begin with, a lot of people doing well for themselves. You can actually go to a liquor store at 1am and not be afraid. You can be out in the county in 30 minutes no matter which Hwy 99 town you're in.
I've ran those SF, North Hollywood, Oakland, San Diego streets at night, lotta freaks.
Love Hwy99, especially going over the Grapevine.
I'm not saying central Cali compares to Monterey/Santa Cruz/Carmel, but what does?
I completely forgot about the ty air quality.
Lived here all my life have never thought...what ty air we have today.
Well, when you live in clean air, and go to a place like that. You notice it. Living with it, you grow accustom to it.
I've spend days in the mountains and over at the coast and once back home I can't tell any difference. Never heard anyone complaining about the air quality.
Hey Bro, if you said you lived in heaven itself - these idiots would tell you that heaven was ty, the air was thin and would moan & groan about it. What else do they ever do?
Yup. Nothing.
Regardless of which state anyone thinks is best now, what states could survive being the only one left? What states can rely the least on the resources of other states? Which states would life as we know it change the least? After all, the scenario was if only one survived.
Jobs doing what? There's no industry in the Central Valley. There's agriculture and wine, but that mostly results in a few wealthy families and an army of underpaid illegals.
Stockton, and the surrounding Central Valley, was pretty much the epicenter for the recent housing crisis, still hasn't recovered, and the economy in the area is in general still depressed. However many people there are doing well in the Central Valley, there are FAR more who are struggling and living in horrible conditions. I worked in real estate for the ten years I lived in Stockton, have a number of family members who still do, have owned investment and rental properties in the area, know several people who still do own property in the area, and I know full well that the market is still in the tank.
You likely can't find a liquor store that's even open at 1:00am. Because nothing is. Except ty strip mall bars. If you do find one that's open, you're likely ducking meth heads. And the crime stats in a number of those Central Valley cities are pretty atrocious.
That's back to liking the Central Valley because of how quickly you can get away from it. And if it's Stanislaus, San Joaquin, or one of the other Central Valley counties, going there really isn't anything special.
Well, sure. But there's also life. The freaks exist every bit as much late at night in the Central Valley, but they're wandering streets that are completely empty amongst businesses that are all closed. Which I find a tad more disconcerting.
Highway 99 doesn't go over the Grapevine. And the Grapevine isn't in the Central Valley.
No. But you're trying to argue that the Central Valley is a good part of California. Which it isn't.
You've noticed that also.
I once listed every sub10.20 sprinter who ever lived. Guy comes back correcting my spelling, hahahaha!!!!!!!
Human nature....he knows too much I'll show him....hahahaha!!!!!!!!
Don't get out much do ya? Liquor stores not open at 1am? Where?
Who said the grapevine was in the valley? While in name Hwy 99 runs right up to the grapevine you are still on the same Hwy you were traveling.
No the freaks don't run amock here like they do in those places I mentioned, totally wrong!!! Never been to Oakland after dark have you? How about Hayward? Ever been to Compton?
The central valley is nothing like the picture you are trying to paint, tons of farming which is always great.
Its funny to me that a guy as old as Avante still doesn't realize that his opinion isn't always correct.
And Avante, Colorado, blows that state out of the water.
shout out to silverblk mystix
Avante got em sprung and chasing him like little lost puppydogs!
Apparently Avante gets you erect.
Apparently.![]()
What a lush.
She said it isn't a good part of California. As it is worse than the other parts of California, it's pretty accurate. The central valley is nothing like the picture you are trying to paint, tons of farming which is always great.
Also the conceit of the OP is that California would survive a great cataclysm that would destroy everything else is pretty funny. The opposite seems much more likely.
Man, SBM is posting more fantasies about me. I suppose I have him "sprung."
Thank you for your scintillating contribution.
The only liquor stores I know of in Central Valley towns that are open at 1:00am are filled with way too many scary people for me to venture inside.
You mentioned it while listing positive attributes about central California, so either your point was irrelevant or your geography was off. Based on your assertion that Highway 99 went through the Grapevine, I assumed the latter. I apologize, however, if I should have assumed the former.
Yes to all three. The only way you can declare that Oakland, Hayward, or Compton to have more "freaks" than the Central Valley is if your definition of "freak" is based on skin color.
Which, given your posting history, it very well may be.
Farming is hugely important, yes. But it's not enough to make the region great for everyone. In fact, it is largely due to the agriculture industry paying migrant workers next to nothing that there is such rampant poverty throughout the Central Valley.
can't be too bad at all then, better than LA by default
