Redshirt sop re punter expected to leave early for NFL
LSU sop re punter Brad Wing has been suspended for the Chick-fil-A Bowl, several sources confirmed Thursday morning.
NOLA.com’s Jim Kleinpeter broke the story early this morning and is confirming the news.
According to one source in the athletic department, Wing’s suspension is related to a failed drug test. Wing was suspended for LSU’s opener against North Texas, also a result of a failed drug test, the source said.
Fellow Australian Jamie Keehn, who punted three times for an average of 41.0 yards against North Texas, will likely take over the punting duties for the Tigers against Clemson on Dec. 31 in the Georgia Dome.
If the suspension stands, Wing, who averaged 44.8 yards per punt in 2012 after averaging 44.4 yards per punt in 2011, could have played his last game as a Tiger. The redshirt sop re is eligible for the 2013 NFL Draft and, according to multiple sources in the athletic department, will likely pursue a professional career and enter the draft.
Of Wing’s 59 punts in 2012, 19 have gone for 50 or more yards. Two of his most memorable moments, however, came in 2011, when he had a touchdown called back against Florida for taunting after scoring on a fake punt, and when he boomed a 73-yard punt at Alabama with his heels to the goalline.

yes son it was completely absurd, but hilarious at the same time. that was the first touchdown called back for "excess celebration". I think it was just that one ref wanting to get his name in the paper for it.
