I love the bump Asik and Parsons get because they get shower with Jeremy Lin.
^ it's because the ASG is in Houston.
Lin ahead of Harden. Nash plays like 5 or 6 games on the season and he's already ahead of Parker. The all-star voting is such a joke.
Nah...Drz is right...it's more about the China effect than where the ASG is going to be played.
Asik and Parsons aren't chinese.
McGrady wasn't Chinese either.
I didn't think things like this needed to be pointed out, but it seems like the upstairs has been more confused than usual lately.
It's not hard to understand really. Rocket players were always voted high on the ballot because China follows that team (Yao).
Also remember that year Bowen was almost voted a starter?![]()
Tracy Mcgrady was the best player on the rockets from '04 to '08 and arguably one of the best small forwards in the game during that time span. I guess what I'm trying to say is what's your point?
Lin is a Rockets player. The Chinese will vote for Rockets players because of this. Any more questions?
ST being introduced to some ground breaking concepts![]()
Why was he voted a starter in 2010? Can you please explain the votes Ariza and Scola got that year as well? , Aaron Brooks too.
Reputation. It's a popularity contest. In 2010, Yao didn't even play in a game, and in 2011, it was just Scola and Yao. I guess China took off that year.
As a matter of fact, you'd think Yao was traded to the Celtics that year. I mean, why Ray Allen, KG, PP, Rondo, Wallace and Perkins. I mean why, why, why? Houston has usually had a pretty strong following at least when they are compe ive. I don't doubt China has influence, but that's not the only reason, far from it.
Reputation doesn't explain the amount of votes Scola and Ariza got that year. It doesn't explain the amount of votes Battier got in previous years or even Artest. Comparing those scrubs to Allen, KG, Pierce, and Rondo is ridiculous. Your Perkins example shows me you have no idea what you are talking about.
Houston didn't win 53 games by magic. The fact that you call Battier and Artest scrubs tells me that you have no idea what you are talking about. Btw, how many votes did Yi Jianlan garner during his 5 year nba career? In retrospect, his 2010 numbers were almost identical to those of Lin's, subs uting assists for rebounds. I bet you could count his total votes on one hand.
you good sir are a riot
Yep, they only vote on what race you are instead of actually caring about the game. If someone of their descent is not in the NBA I bet they don't watch a single damn game.
Friggin popularity contest
They should make a rule that you have to play a certain amount of games just to be on the ballot Nash was way ahead of Parker while he was nursing a broken leg.
Yao started over Shaq in his rookie season because of the votes, doubt Houston got him in the game as a starter. China has nmore than just a little influence, come on now man.Like Charles once said, take the voting away from the damn fans.
They'd be better off have Hollinger picking the teams
Yes, they vote their own players through, but I think voting other players through just because they're wearing the same uniform isn't always accurate.
This might be correct, I can see the hometown having an influence on this as well.
