In Retrospect... Who's better Duncan or Bryant?
Bryant is obviously the better player and had a better career. Bryant is going into his 17th season and is still producing superstar numbers. Duncan has ceded from his greatness in the early 2000s. Bryant has played through countless injuries. Besides, Duncan has maintained much of his teammates. Ginboli, Parker and even Gregg Popovich has been with him for over 10 years. There is not a single player on the Lakers team that was with Bryant for more than 7 seasons. Bryant has had to deal with different coaches (Del Harris, Kurt Rambis, Phil Jackson, Rudy Tomjanovich, Frank Hamblen, Phil again and now Mike Brown). Duncan has had Popovich his entire career. Bryant started his career off as a bench warmer and played garbage minutes before establishing himself as a premier player. Duncan started his rookie season. Duncan his a great player, an all time great, but Bryant's legacy has outmatched even his.
