If it's a good steak it's gotta be rare tbh; anything more than medium and you might as well just go to Outback.
Do to the mac & cheese/milk thread raising the "skim milk vs whole milk" debate, I realized it's just a matter of preference. The skim people say whole milk is like drinking butter while the whole people say skim milk is like water. It's the same with steaks. The rare people say well done tastes like burnt meat while the well done people say rare tastes like chewy blood. whuddya think?

I voted medium, even though I like it a teensy bit more done. I can't usually eat an entire steak so if I order it medium and then just eat around the edges, I can take the leftover home and cook the middle part exactly how I like it for lunch the next day.
Who would order a steak well done? What a waste
I can't even describe to absolute contempt and hate I have for people who would ruin a good steak by ordering it medium or higher. Dead serious, anybody who goes to a high end steakhouse and orders a steak well done should be escorted out the door with a coupon for the nearest Sizzler.
Yeah if you like steak well done why not go to the grocery store and buy the biggest cheapest steak that's marked down because it's about to go bad. You're gonna be cooking it well done so even if it's starting to go bad that won't be an issue![]()
Medium or medium rare is the only way too go! Well done is just stupid and a waste!
When I'm cooking the steak myself, I prefer something between medium and medium well. And I usually get there by cooking to the upper side of rare/medium and then letting it cook a bit more while resting.
That said, I cannot ing stand a well done steak. In restaurants I never order anything higher than medium.
Anything above medium is for untermensch s who deserve to wiped off the face of this planet. , medium is pushing it.
If your have your steak past medium, I hate you.
This. Has to be medium rare minimum
moo
Just make it scream a little on each side, and I'm good.
when I worked at Saltgrass, if I had good rapport with a table and someone ordered a steak well done, I would start taking off my boot and ask if they wanted a side with it.
Regardless of if I had good rapport or not, if someone ordered a steak well done, I would say "Ok, and which do you prefer? A1 or Heinz 57?" Every single time, without a doubt, they took steak sauce.
Medium...........who in the wants a burnt up steak or a steak thats gushing blood like a girl on her cycle? Screw both of those.
Never realized people were so stuck up on steak preparedness. The at udes are news to me.
My wife is the worst. She orders a well done sirloin and smothers it in A1. First of all... the only thing a sirloin is good for is grinding up for hamburger meat. Second... you wouldn't need steak sauce if you didn't burn the out of your meat. I can tolerate this behavior if we're eating at Texas Roadhouse. But if we're eating at someplace nice like Fleming's, she has to at least go down to medium.
this is where we're on the same page. I had a feeling there would be a number of food elitists but not this many. I WISH I could see yalls reaction to me saying that I also like eating it with ketchup. Let that soak in for a sec. Also, I'd never waste my money on these "high end" steaks/steakhouses so all I'm even considering is the Texas Roadhouse kind of places. Even Outback is outta the question. So keep pretending you're high class while I savor my medium well steak with ketchup
Lol next time I go to a steak place I'm gonna order my steak well done in a loud voice and study the reactions on people's faces. I'll be happy to find a guy staring at me too angry to eat. Then I'll smother it in ketchup.
Nobody's saying you can't order a steak well done. It just means you're second class and have poor taste.
I don't use steak preparedness as an indication to judge classes. If you feel so classy ordering steaks rare and snub your noses at people who don't then that means you are just a pretentious snobby little asshole. That is worse than low class to me.
I thought music elitists were pretentious enough, but food?...yeeesh
And then not tip the waiter
Like I said, you're en led to your poor choices and tastes. It's what makes this country great.
