This is bad news for Buffalo only in that it brings Whisen one step closer to the Bills. O'Brien is staying at PSU, too. Horton or Marrone would be my preferred options.
Close to becoming new HC of the Browns.

I think a lot will depend on who the coordinators will be...but if you had to choose Whiz or Lovie?
Lovie in a heartbeat. I agree on coordinators though...i want us to make a splash there. Bengals are thriving despite all their youth b/c of damn good coords
Big mistake, Chip Kelly is a college coach only, as we will see.
Well, **** it, nothing else has worked. Might as well try this and see what happens. Worst case, they go 4-12/5-11 a few more times (which they do every year anyway) and he gets fired.
I don't hate the move, JT. He's the hottest prospect out there right now--and whether it works or not--it's creating excitement for a fan base that has had little to be excited about.
He'd have to change his system up to work in the NFL, but I wouldn't sell Chip Kelly short. He's not a Saban-type college coach who has loaded recruiting classes every year and has tailored his offense to whatever fits the personnel/whatever did best against other Pac-12 teams. Oregon has been a lot better at passing this year now that Kelly has Marcus Mariota at QB. He doesn't at all strike me as a guy who's stubborn and out to prove that a system can work, he'll change his system to whatever wins.
Yep, you nailed it!
Didn't they "try this" with Butch Davis?
Butch was actually a decent gameday coach. He went 7-9 in 2001 with a team that had gone 5-27 the previous two years and went 9-7 in '02 for the team's only playoff bid since the return. He had the same problem every other coach/GM had under Randy Lerner- he was given too much power and responsibility and was eventually overwhelmed by it. But as a coach he wasn't bad. He looked like Vince Lombardi compared to Pat Shurmur, tbh.
Chip's a bad ass dude and a terrific coach. If he doesn't succeed in the NFL, it won't be a lack of effort that undermines him. I was around him when he first started coaching and he's every bit the compe or now that he was nearly 25 years ago. Whoever gets him has reason to be excited about the future.
He was known for his multiple offenses before he came to Oregon. He tries new things all the time.
I think Marrone is a bit unknown. Before he was at Syracuse, he was the Saints "offensive coordinator" even though Payton called the plays. He did do a decent job at Syracuse.
Personally I think Kelly should stay at Oregon.
He hasn't signed a contract with Cleveland yet. He wants to interview with the other teams before making a decision.
Phew, good thing we didn't get him, his playing style is so different to ours. Philip Rivers is the ABSOLUTELY wrong QB for a Chip Kelly offense.
I think he'll end up in Philly. Perfect fit for him, if they keep Vick. That team is loaded with speed (Vick, McCoy, Jackson, Maclin)
Tbh, since Dean is sitting on his ass being cheap as usual, we'll end up with some known loser like Jim Mora, Jr... I'd rather have Chip than the usual Spanos hire...
I was going to say, why go to the Browns? Not enough talent, terrible city to live in..If anything I would go to where I have CJ Spiller TBH...
We got Doug Marrone from 'Cuse![]()
I have the copyrights to JT, you owe me four dollars
crofl...sorry about your boys, brah. Draft O-line only and have the WR's use stickem
Kelly won't be able to work his magic with the pros. Kids will play along not the big boys. They will think he's crazy.
