    Tim Duncan A
Perimeter D lacking but interior D dominant. Very strong offensively: scored on post, passed well, quick decisions.

    Manu Ginobili A-
Great start to the game. Got overzealous at times but made a ton of good plays for himself and others.

    Tony Parker A-
Played with chutzpah on both ends. D was energetic. On O, he expertly dealt with everything Sixers threw at him.

    Kawhi Leonard B
Solid on defense, particularly in transition. Very strong on the boards. Quiet offensively. Needs more involvement.

    Danny Green B+
Early shots provided a boost. Good shot selection. Good D. Uncoordinated at times but overall above average.

    Tiago Splitter B-
Didn’t finish well; needs to gather himself better. Rebounding was a plus but D impact was up and down.

    Boris Diaw C+
Apparently played 15 minutes. Was very quiet. Passed up shots offensively. Subpar effort on defense.

    Gary Neal B+
Better than usual on D. Great hustle on that end. Took decent enough shots but more creating would help.

    Nando De Colo C+
Average D. Offensive production nondescript. Needs to shoot more and take better care of the ball.

    Matt Bonner C
Poor interior defense; didn’t even provide a speed bump. No defensive rebounding. Not crisp on offense.

    Patrick Mills Inc.
Made a few plays off the dribble, which is unusual for him.

    DeJuan Blair Inc.
Scoring eight points is pretty impressive for a small bigman who can no longer jump at all.

    Pop A-
Tweaked the rotation seamlessly with the loss of Jackson. Kept all the minutes reasonable.

Nice take. I agree it was a very good overall effort. Pop even used the 6'7'' and under line-up and got away with it.

Tiago gets a B+ from me this game for the fact that he was out there fighting on every play in the 1st half. Most aggressive I've seen him on both sides of the ball in a while.

Thanks for the grades. A quiet easy win.

Blair was maybe a little more motivated for that game because it was against Sixers, a team that was rumored being interest in him. The next 10 days will be great test for Spurs frontcourt with two games against Memphis and one against Lakers.

Nando needs to send Pop a giant thank you card because without his support, De Colo wouldn't even see the sight of an NBA court let alone actually play in a game. Another underwhelming performance for a player who belongs in the D-league full time gaining valuable experience while earning credible playing time against players he can compete with on an everyday basis and further instill the confidence and the hope of one day returning to the NBA and actually competing for minutes alongside other reserves coming off the Spurs bench as opposed to amassing his small 8 to 10 minutes of fame while defecating egregiously all over the court with his apathetic passing, ill-fated shooting and uninspiring defense. Pop giving him burn in the second quarter is both pointless and disturbing. , Curtis Joseph could put up Nando's numbers and probably do it better and more proficiently. De Colo's not an NBA caliber player, not even close. And anyone who thinks differently has Malik Hairston syndrome.

Anything above a C- is way too high. Maybe one day, De Colo will develop into a useful role player but that day isn't today. I agree with the rest of the grades though.

That certainly was an ugly game offensively for Tiago. He is partly to blame for it, though, as he was just not decisive enough at times with his finishing. But the effort was there, and at least he had a good rebounding night.
Neal's hustle on D was commendable. There was one situation where he threw himself on the floor diving for a loose ball - and that was with the Spurs already being up roughly 20 points.

Timvp, I wonder are you keeping all these grades (actually, the numerical ones you do later) in a sortable spreadsheet? It would be interesting to be able to see how the guys do versus certain teams and certain calibers of teams. It sure seems that the grades are consistently high versus the lower-tiers, and generally low versus the better teams.

3 assists in 10 minutes, that's really disturbing considering he's not capable of playing in the NBA... parker had 5 in 30min, ginobili 4 in 26, and Gary "mini-Carmelo" Neal hugs the ball for 25min... IMHO unselfish creative players are worthy every minute of development...

Sick comparison When Parker is +22, Manu is + 11 and Neal is +7. De Colo? -5. Also, Ginobili was pretty sloppy all game long but Paker had 0 To's in 29 minutes and Neal had 1 in 25 minutes. De Colo had 2 in 10 minutes. Any donkey can make a pass. He doesn't make the team better when he's on the court. And a 3/2 assist to TO ratio in garbage time isn't really a good one.

Of course, because you'd expect him to have a great +/- if he's playing with the worst players on the Spurs roster? Oh wait, probably not...

Also, if Pop and the Spurs front office see something in him then I believe them, they know a heck of a lot more about basketball than I do.

De Colo is one of the worst players on the court. He adds nothing to the depth of this team. I'm not sure the point you're trying to make.

Sending a player to the D-league doesn't mean the coach or organization doesn't see something in him. It means he needs more time to develop and fine tune his game. He's not NBA material at this point in time and he isn't getting the kind of run with the Spurs that he could be getting with the Toros. And to your words, how do you expect a player to improve if you throw him out there with the worst players on the Spurs roster in garbage time? Talk about taking the slow track to success.

Duncan and Bonner were both +11 and Bonner played fewer minutes. Imagine what would happen if Bonner started getting some of those Duncan minutes!

I never said Bonner was worth a . But keep in mind, before Splitter, there was Bonner. And he ate into Duncan's minutes nightly while putting up a solid +/-. Btw, if you're refering to De colo's second quarter cameo appearances,I've already said he shouldn't be out there.

edit: Just to be clear, De Colo is cutting into Neal's playing time, not Parker's or Ginobili's.
