Quotes from OT Laremy Tunsil (24/7). He has four official visits set up between now and National Signing Day (not including Texas). Won't be a surprise if he never makes it to Austin. He spoke with Stacy Searels over the phone on Friday.

“I'm going to go see how the facilities are, how the atmosphere is and the education,”
Tunsil said. “Get a good view to see if they're good enough to put them in my top schools.”

“We've got to build that relationship,” Tunsil said. “The first conversation (with Stacy Searels) went good, so we'll see where it goes.”

“Everything,” Tunsil said when asked what he liked about Texas. “I think it was the coach (Mack Brown). It helps them that he's still there.”

“I talked to (Jake) Raulerson and told him that I was interested in Texas,”
Tunsil said. “We kind of hit it off.”
“We've got one more month,” Tunsil said. “I'll give them a chance.”

There's a new OL prospect on the radar, per 24/7. OG/C Rami Hammad of Irving High (currently committed to Baylor) is likely to be offered soon. This is an interesting move because it could be linked to the recruitment of OL/DL Andrew Billings. Either Texas doesn't feel good about Billings at the moment or they'd like to bring in another interior prospect so that Billings can have a legit shot to play DT as that's the position he's always preferred. Hammad was hooked up with the Texas staff through LB Naashon Hughes. Both guys played in the lesser known Semper Fi all-star game in Arizona on Friday night. Hammad's high school coach is the father of FB Alex De La Torre.

“Naashon had been telling the Texas coaches about me this week,” said Hammad. “He was talking to Coach (Stacy) Searels about me and telling him that they needed to take a look at me. Coach Searels told Naashon to give me his number and that we could go from there after I call him.”

“He (Searels) said that he really liked me and that Texas was definitely interested in me,”
Hammad explained. “Coach Searels said he was sorry that they didn’t begin to recruit me sooner, but that he liked me a lot and that they need another offensive lineman. He told me I could be that guy and that they might offer after he watches my tape again.”

“I’ve called him back and now I’m waiting on an email from him,”
Hammad told Hookem.com. “We’re supposed to discuss everything in detail next time we talk. He’s going to tell me the plans they have and we’ll see where things stand after that.”

“I’m pretty solid to Baylor at the moment,” he said. “But I will say that I’ll never reject an offer, especially from a school like Texas. They have a solid reputation for winning games and getting championships. If they offer, then I definitely want to go take a visit and see them at least. I’m not going to tell them no.”

Why are we using a scholarship on him?
I think it's as simple as Texas needing a solid RB prospect with Hicks de-committing and they've identified Kinner as one they really like. 4A Offensive Player of the Year. He just hasn't been recruited heavily because he's a grade risk and may not qualify.

William Wilkerson seems to believe there is serious interest from Laremy Tunsil.

Also, Deoundrei Davis is getting off his crutches sometime next week in time to enroll early. Besides him and Swoopes, who is planning on enroll early? Raulerson and Antwuan Davis?

TFloss, can you, or someone else for that matter, make som kind of list with remaining targets? I mean, there's about a month to Signing Day, so it would be good to get a view off who the staff is still pursuing. Isn't there about 10 players out there with an offer, or potentially an offer?

    QB/ATH Nick Marshall
    RB Ke'Aun Kinner
RB Mark Dodson Jr. (Ole Miss)
    WR James Clark
    OL Desmond Harrison
    OL Rami Hammad (Baylor)
    OL Laremy Tunsil
    OL/DL Andrew Billings
    LB De'Vondre Campbell
    S Shaquille Fluker (Georgia)

    Am I missing anyone?

I can't think of anyone else but maybe Dontre Wilson who will decommit from Oregon if Chip Kelly leaves. If he decommits I'd think that Ohio St and Texas will be his two main options.

2014 OL Orlando Brown, Jr. of Georgia is looking at visiting Florida State or Texas soon (24/7):

"It depends on my family schedule which one I go to," Brown said. "I'll probably know in a week or two. Demetrius Knox, who plays [at Texas], has been hitting me pretty hard to go there. He's a friend of mine. They're recruiting me a lot. I want to go out and see Texas, see the campus and meet a couple coaches. With FSU, I think they're a pretty young team, but they have pretty good discipline on the offensive line and a great offensive line coach."

I've read a report that Sumlin pulled the scholarship of WR commit Quincy Adeboyejo. I'm sure that there will be a lot of happy HS coaches around the state.

Sumlin has to be smart about what scholarships to pull off. Not just the weaker players will go but also he can't pull scholarships from the very talented HSs bc he will be burning a lot of bridges.

Quincy Adeboyejo has de-committed from A&M. No scholarship offer was pulled. He hinted awhile back that he was unhappy that A&M was taking on so many receivers and the recent pledge of WR Tony Stevens out of Florida put it over the edge. Likely destinations are TCU or Texas Tech.

2013 LB Jordan Mastrogiovanni has de-committed from Oklahoma and committed to Texas A&M.

"I love Texas A&M football, but it's not whats best for me now. The fans are amazing and I hate to have de-committed, and I never thought I would do this."

Anyhow, it should be interesting to see how Sumlin handles the influx of players in the next month. No doubt he offered a few guys too early but he didn't realize the type of success he was about to have either. Continuing to take on receivers when you know you already have disgruntled ones can leave a bad taste in some peoples mouth just the same, but the scholarship offer was not pulled.

he was pretty pissed and has been jawing off about it to other players, i can confirm that from all the players i know. according to guys that talked to him what pissed him off was they told him directly he should 'consider other options' due to compe ion. no scholly pullled technically yes but i think he got the point.

William Wilkerson seems to believe there is serious interest from Laremy Tunsil.

Tunsil did not just all of a sudden start taking a last second look at Texas. The various national recruiting sites had interviewed him and he's mentioned interest in Texas on multiple occasions - this dating back at least a year. I wondering why the staff didn't get on him but figured they just assumed it was wasted energy. Strange that they appear to be reaching out to him at this point?

He's been flirting around with de-committing for awhile now so I see how this happened.

A&M really wanted LB Isaac Savaniaiaea from Hawaii but he recent;y said he was waiting until NSD to announce. Sumlin's crunching numbers like crazy right now so he is not willing to wait that long. That's why he went and took Mastrogiovanni instead. Adeboyejo has been talking about how upset he is that A&M was taking on 8 receivers and we just landed #9 yesterday. Sumlin knew he was upset and didn't want a last minute flip when he has so many guys still in play. Smart move by Sumlin and Quincy IMO but he definitely needs to be smart about this because you definitely don't want to upset some people.

    Direct quote from Quincy:
Sounds legit. I would think that the reaction from a recruit would be to slam the university that pulled the offer. The fact that he isn't doing it makes me think that no schollie was pulled.

Who knows how things truly transpired or what was said - i just know people got the vibe he felt he was shafted.

the reality is if the ags get better talent and offer to let him consider other options b/c they loaded up on the position - i don't think that is necessarily wrong (if done it in a tactful way).

and don't forget when thomas johnson was told we were not taking another WR and then we took marcus johnson. i was not a fan of that.

This is just speculation but I feel that after Quincy openly criticized A&M for signing 8 WR's we contacted and told him we were not taking anymore and he cooled off. Then yesterday WR Tony Stevens commits and that's how he felt he was shafted. Stevens isn't a player you turn down though. Tough situation.

Sumlin made the decision for Adeboyejo.
