Just read that myself. And to answer your question from before, I don't think Florida is too late at all. I think that's the one he's wanted all along. According to that article from this morning, he'll visit Clemson on January 18th instead of Texas.

Update on OL Rami Hammad (24/7):

“We talked some more today,” Hammad told Hookem.com on Sunday evening. “It sounds like I’ll most likely be getting the offer. Coach Searels wants to double check and run everything by Coach (Mack) Brown again to make sure everything is good about scholarship numbers first. Then they’ll meet with me and I’ll either go visit them or they’ll come visit with me at home. He said we should have all this settled within the next week or two.”

“I feel like I’ll probably get the offer,” explained Hammad. “Through my recruiting process, I’ve gotten a good feel on who sounds very interested and who isn’t. I can tell Texas is definitely interested and this is all legit.” “I’d for sure visit,” he said. “I would probably go up there with my coach, Coach De La Torre. He knows Texas very well, because his son Alex plays for the Longhorns.”

“Growing up as a kid all I heard about were the Longhorns,” said Hammad. “Throughout my entire recruiting process, especially early on, I had really hoped and wished to get an offer from Texas, so it’s great that’s happening. Also, right now I really like their offensive line class that they already have committed that are going there. I’m a mean, nasty player, and the guys going there already can relate to that. My dream besides getting a college education and going to the NFL, is to play next to a group of guys in college that are a bunch of studs. I want to create a reputation across the nation as an offensive line group similar to what Alabama has now. We could do that at Texas.”

“I did have an in home visit with them (Baylor) on Saturday,” Hammad said. “That visit went really well. The entire Texas situation did come up and they were definitely worried about it. You know how that goes.”

24/7 reporting that Texas did not visit RB Dontre Wilson this weekend but they're expected to go by DeSoto HS at some point this week. Even with Kelly returning to Oregon, Wilson is expected to de-commit and Ohio State will be the favorite.

Per 24/7, JUCO OL Desmond Harrison could make a decision as early as this week. Some quotes from his coach:

“Texas is definitely right up there,” Carter told Hookem.com. “He feels very comfortable there. He says that it just feels natural there, because that’s where he’s from. He’s originally from Houston, so he feels at home. He described it as a natural fit to me. So I think because of that they’re right on up there for him.”

“They’ve stayed in contact as much as they possibly can,”
Carter said of the Texas coaches. “Coach Bo Davis and Coach Stacy Searels have been on their A-game when it comes to his recruitment. They’ve done an excellent job in talking to him, alleviating any concerns he or his family had and staying in contact with me. They’ve been very, very professional about it all.”

TFloss, can you, or someone else for that matter, make som kind of list with remaining targets? I mean, there's about a month to Signing Day, so it would be good to get a view off who the staff is still pursuing. Isn't there about 10 players out there with an offer, or potentially an offer?

    QB/ATH Nick Marshall
    RB Ke'Aun Kinner
RB Mark Dodson Jr. (Ole Miss)
    WR James Clark
    OL Desmond Harrison
    OL Rami Hammad (Baylor)
    OL Laremy Tunsil
    OL/DL Andrew Billings
    LB De'Vondre Campbell
    S Shaquille Fluker (Georgia)

    Am I missing anyone?
Looks good. I'dd add WR Robbie Rhodes as Texas isn't giving up there. JUCO WR Quantavius Leslie is a guy who they may continue to work on and they're looking into WR Sebastian LaRue from Santa Monica, CA.

I'm not positive where things stand with S Shaq Fluker, but I do know he's not enrolling at Georgia for the spring semester. And FYI that RB Ke'Aun Kinner has until April 1st to sign his Letter of Intent. As long as he passes his ACT, there shouldn't be a problem getting him to Austin.

"Cedar Hill WR Quincy Adeboyejo told our Damon Sayles that Texas did reach out to him following his decommitment from Texas A&M on Sunday. He's not interested in the Longhorns. Adeboyejo will take an official visit to Texas Tech on Jan. 18. Safe to bet that's where he ends up, either Tech or TCU."

HornsNation saying that JUCO QB Nick Marshall has been offered by Auburn and will take an official visit to see them on January 25th. I've seen some talk that Marshall could commit to Texas while in Austin, so we'll see what happens.

matthews is reportedly leaning towards staying (primarily to play with his brother for one year; his brother is pegged to be the starting center)

Cameron Echols-Luper (WR) has decommitted. Makes me wonder who we are making room for. Feel bad for these kids, but I guess it's the nature of the beast. Hope we aren't burning bridges, although he is from Auburn, AL. He is likely headed to Texas Tech or TCU.

I am no longer commited to Texas A&M, don't get me wrong, A&M is a great school, but it's not what's best for me for the next 4 years. I want to thank all the aggie fans for the support they've given me and also to the coaches who recruited me. Thank you!
