Close for a half but Heat win by 6+ ...Moral victory (which I dont believe in) for the Lakers. Heat should beat this team by 10+ tbh ...

10 reans why a easy Heat victory is on tap:
    1. Lebron
    2. Better defenders on Heat: Battier, chalmers, HAslem Wade Anthony and Lebron are capable on defense. Lakers have Clark, Dwight Kobe MWP
    3. Turnovers Heat cause em and we give the rock away freely ...
    4. Foul trouble Dwight and MWP will be in it most likely ...if not then we keep it close for a while ...
    5. 3pt shooting they are good at it we suck at it ...
    6. Transition game they are great at it we suck stopping it mostly due to turnovers and the fact we are slow of foot
    7. Lebron
    8. Lebron
    9. Lebron
    10. Lebron

If the teams are close (they aren't) bet on Lebron ... so the choice here is obvious.

I was wondering about the scheduling by Sternie, figuring he would make sure Kirby was well rested and the LeBrons tired out.
Lakers previous game at Staples Tue night (48 hours rest).
Lakers next game Sun night @ Toronto (72 hours rest post game)

    Heat @ Golden last night.
    However......
Heats next game is 5 1/2 days later!! Home vs Toronto next Wednesday. Wow.

Wow, Pop no need to make excuses Heat stil win. Also no one complains about all of the wins SA gets when road teams go to the AT&T after visiting Houston or Dallas the previous night. Schedules even out over time ...dont be a wuss. If you are good enough it doesnt matter most nights and every team faces a few "schedule losses". Spurs have the rodeo trip and when they are rolling the back2backs don't matter ....

I will admit for marquee TNT/ESPN/ABC games they should try not to schedule teams playiing on the road on a 2nd night of b2b ...

Yep. And yet here we are.

    Schedules even out over time
Nope. In one or both of the recent rigged le years we had a thread about back to backs. The Flamers had the fewest in the NBA. And that was with **away** games vs Clippers.
Perhaps it's evened out this year.

you really cant be serious.. lebron is 28 years old, hes at the prime of his career. Probably the best shape you will see him in, and your saying hes tired out? with a stacked roster?? they should have no problem giving a full effort against LA

But from what I hear they outsource schedule making or have a team that does it IIRC ... they do have to factor other events etc.

Lakers benefit because Buss prefer Laker games on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday we only play home games on Wednesday Thursday (TNT) and Mondays when it's a holiday or ESPn or someone else requests it or a concert breaks that schedule. That goes way back to the early years of Buss's ownership.

Jazz actually have the best scheduling. No sunday games so many teams get stuck with a Friday Denver/Portland game with a Saturday @ Salt Lake back2back ...

Point is I doubt there is a conspiracy in schedules. Things like the rodeo, other events the chicago circus all impact schedules. The Lebron, Kyrie, Ewing, rose drafts are more suspect tbh ...

Plus the texas triangle scheduling helps the Spurs/Mavs/Rox before this week (pelicans?) last team to sweep them on one trip was 2009 Lakers ...

lakers need to play some d, pound the ball into the post and rebound. that would give us a solid chance.

Thanks for validating my point. With 5 1/2 days off after the Heat play tonight they should be able to give full effort in smoking Kirby tonight.

tbh, Heat got some rest last night... that was some severe beating they put on the Dubs and IIRC, most starters didn't play much of the 4th...

From the L.A. Times in 2010. Of course the link is no longer live. Perhaps Sternie and Buss ordered it deleted.

Guess which of the 30 NBA teams will play the fewest sets of back-to-back games this season?
    Yep, the Lakers.

According to number-crunching BasketballProspectus.com, the Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks each got stuck with 23 back-to-backs in 2010-11, topping the dreaded B2B list. It's the second straight season the Bulls have led the NBA in this grind-it-out category.

Meanwhile, the Lakers will play the fewest, with 15 sets of back-to-backs.

Does this matter? Yes, given that the Lakers have nine thirtysomethings on their roster (Ron Artest, Matt Barnes, Steve Blake, Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Theo Ratliff and Luke Walton); this schedule should give them a little breather as they try for a three-peat.

Last season the Lakers played 20 sets of back-to-backs -- their record was 24-16. (After the playoffs start, of course, there are no back-to-backs.)

Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder, with a roster full of young legs, also did well in the 2010-11 scheduling derby, and will play only 17 sets of back-to-back, third-fewest in the league. Among other notable teams, the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics both play 19 parings of back-to-backs.

Not everything, though, is a plus for the Lakers in the scheduling department.

Last season they slept at home a lot to start the season, playing 19 games at home out their first 28 contests (and one ?road game? was against the Clippers). The Lakers went 23-5 in that spell to open a four-game lead in the West.

This season, the Lakers? charter pilots will be busy the first couple months, as the team hits the road for 16 of their first 28 games.

Opening night is Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Staples, against the Houston Rockets.

This should be a win for the Lakers. They feel confident about themselves. Just stick with the same game plan that gave them 2 blowout wins. Feed Dwight, keep the defensive pressure and allow Nash to run the offense as opposed to making this another Kobe ISO game. Gasol is also back and refreshed. Should be a fun game. I placed a $150 bet on the Lakers tonight. Hope they win.

As for this game, it all depends on which Heat team shows up. Miami has been coasting, so we will see if that continues.

Midnightpulp wrongly predicted the Fakeshow would beat the Knicks a few weeks ago and the media would obsess over a "LAKERS ARE BACK" storyline. He should have saved his storm, this is that game. Fakers by double digits, Kirbs scores under 20 but dishes out 10+ assists. Book it.

I don't really see the Lakers winning this one, tbh.... firstly, it seems like every time they look like they're getting it together (albeit against bad teams) they start playing good teams again and get blown out.... secondly, they're going to have to adjust to yet another change in their lineup with Pau coming back.... I can also easily see Kobe reverting to full-out chuck mode in an attempt to make his stats look better than LeBron's...
