A bear with no claws can still hug ya to death

Timmy's Tragic Johnson passes do stand out, it's like he's entertaining himself during the regular season

Nah, a healthy Memphis team is for real. They'd beat the Clips this year, though, they should probably trade for a shooter though to give better spacing.

maybe he meant it's shaky now compared to prime Timmy. Which could be true, but not because his passing was better back then. Prime Timmy would just humiliate the defender and take the shot himself.

I doubt it because Rosen doesn't have a clue what Duncan was like in his prime either.

    See:
He isn’t (and never was) a particularly effective one-on-one defender
His thoughts on Gary Neal were just...it's like he was watching the Spurs for the first time last night or something.

Uh, no. He's easily a top ten passing bigman in the NBA.

    The ?

Parker is still the fastest player in the NBA. I doubt he could have lost any steps and still have that le.

Parker's D has always been above average when he's engaged. This year he's having his best defensive season to date.

Splitter has great touch and his hands are definitely above average for a bigman.

    Yeah, no.

Worst Gary Neal scouting report ever.

It's worth a read for some decent nuggets sprinkled in (good find, Mr.Bottomtooth) but it's obvious that Rosen rarely if ever actually watches the Spurs play. You'd think he'd go back to actually watching games again now that Phil Jackson isn't around for him to coattail ... but I guess not.

You saved me the trouble of pointing this out.Thanks.

    Horrible report from Rosen.

Before I had scrolled down and realized someone had beaten me to the punch, I was going to do this. Between his article and your recap, I damn near spat out my coffee and choked on it simultaneously, while trying to avoid literally laughing out loud.

I'll just add: him claiming Diaw weighs 203 pounds and Green "isn't quite as dynamic a scorer as Neal" (as if he's even close).

Rosen is always good for a laugh. Some old, bitter, extremely biased fool (he'd probably take a bullet for Jackson), who talks pure nonsense. He's Walton-esque, in terms of unintentional comedy. He's always pretended as if Duncan were a mediocre straight up defender and once said Udoka had (to paraphrase) incredible upside, so him calling Neal an "athletic defender" isn't all that surprising.

I think Rosen meant 203 cm, which converts to 80" or 6'8". I admit I also did a double take when I first read that, given the number of errors in Rosen's article.

Boris Diaw and 203 lbs, that has to be so wrong on so many levels.

It’s on the other end of the court where Duncan’s influence is mostly felt. He isn’t (and never was) a particularly effective one-on-one defender

Even the Grizzlies take was bad. He knocks their defense quite a bit, but they're by far one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. It seems like he made all these conclusions by only watching Wednesday's game.

Tim did spend a lot of time in the high post but since Gasol was out they doubled him every time he caught the ball down low. This was several times. I got about that far, a few sentences, before I stopped reading. If the guy indeed watch the game he does not know what he is looking at.

In fairness Gasol was in foul trouble early and often and without his interior presence they struggled to keep us out of the paint.

Putting Gary Neal and the words "athletic defender" together just doesn't feel right, tbh.
