New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says it is "reprehensible" for the National Rifle Association to run an ad bringing President Barack Obama's daughters into the gun-control debate.

The nationally prominent governor on Thursday criticized the ad, which accused the president of being a hypocrite for allowing his daughters to be protected by armed Secret Service agents but not embracing armed guards for schools.
I don't really care about the commercial. What I see in this is that Christie is balling politically especially if he is trying to get the nod in 2016. The GOP will probably be too butthurt to nominate him but with the country starving for nonpartisan politics, Christie is going out of his way to walk the walk.

Lets talk about the commercial. I found it extremely funny, considering it aired the day Obama surrounded himself by children to make his gun control announcement. You can't deny that bringing those children on stage with him was pretty low.

Children got shot. It was a stupid as ad. It tells you the NRA is worried about erosion of their base since that ad is not going to appeal to anyone of a moderate mindset.

the NRA/gun industry propaganda machine concentrating on the slaughter of 20 children by one "mentally ill" shooter deflects from the MUCH LARGER DISASTER of 30K gun deaths/year.

The NRA supporting "mental illness" bull proves absolutely that it's a useless, ineffective tactic and again deflects from the real problem of ineffective regulation and enforcement of gun purchases and ownership.

CBS now reporting it wasn't even an assault rifle.

    *edit*

accidentally picked up an undated story from right after the shooting when they were saying it was 4 pistols

I think it's a good ad. Doesn't bring up a politician's kids like what they did with Cheney's. Granted she was an adult.

I'd be surprised if Christie makes a serious run at all in 2016. He's never gonna pander to the tea party Jeebo s who wanted to hang New Jersey out to dry after hurricane sandy, the GOP will never forgive him for approving of how Obama handled Sandy, and as dumb as this sounds, he doesn't "look" the part. You can call that shallow/stupid/whatever, but physical stature totally plays a role in presidential elections.

    Agreed...
That up there with Diane Feinstein’s photo shoot in San Francisco’s gun rebate back in the 80’s…She had one of her assistants buy an illegal handgun off the street so Dianne could be photographed turning in the gun for 50 bucks…Meanwhile Feinstein’s entourage were carrying Uzis…What a farce...

Romney & McCain are pretty good evidence that the Jeebo s don't have the clout to get their guy nominated, so I don't think Christie has to worry about them as far as getting the nomination. But you're right about the physical stature. Christie definitely needs to shed a bunch of weight if he wants to run. If he can drop the weight though, I think he's in great shape, pardon the pun. He's got the perfect topic to talk about on Oprah/Ellen/The View and all the other talk shows housewives watch. American women will eat that up.

Romney and McCain did what was needed to do in order to become acceptable to Jeebo s (and they were both the result of other Jeebo s knocking each other out) by changing whatever their views were on certain issues. They needed to temporarily shed their image of "moderate Repulbican" and did so largely by selling out to the GOP, and I don't see Christie doing that. I think the whole Sandy situation put a bad taste in Christie's mouth about tea party politics and where the GOP is headed and he wants no part of it.

Romney and McCain won their primary largely because of a perfect storm. McCain won because Romney and Huckabee split the far right wing vote . In 2012 Romney basically became the Jeebo candidate 1) because the other candidates were so bad that people like Koch and Adelson figured out Romney was their only chance at beating Obama and 2) by selling out to Tea Party groups like FreedomWorks that started to feed its shills propaganda about how Romney wanted small government and family values. I don't see Christie abandoning his dignity and personal views the way Romney did to get Tea Party/Jeebo support. I think he loves New Jersey and the people of New Jersey too much to start pandering to the same people who wanted to cut New Jersey off after Hurricane Sandy.

Romney didn't win because he didn't really want to be president.

Christie changed his at ude and tune after getting slapped by Sandy, tbh... He saw firsthand the destruction and helplessness that comes when completely out of anybody's control happen, and he finally understood 'government isn't all that bad'. You can see it in him and you can see it in the way he changed his tune. This is a much more center Christie. I agree he needs to work on his looks, tbh.

    By Christie?

Only if they kick him out. The GOP is so fractured right now they would be foolish to kick out a guy as popular as Christie right now. They are foolish though.
