Kobe is the poison on that team. The team, without him, would probably be .500 at least.

They aren't better off without Kobe because his talent and capabilities are part of what make their offense so good and their ceiling so scary. However, with the way he's playing (we all knew his most efficient start ever would regress to the mean) he simply won't allow that team to reach their potential.

    Roster change?
Trade Kobe to Memphis for Rudy Gay and whoever else gets the deal done.
Now that, I'd like to see!

How could they be much worse than they currently are?

With Pau, Howard, Artest and Nash, they would be a formidable team. Kobe throws a MONKEY wrench into the works because he's not willing to play team ball, despite his token TNT inside pass attempts to Howard.

Except Kobe has a no trade clause. He could opt out, but we all know he won't.

They should be a formidable team now and tbh, with Kobe shooting flukishly well to start the year, they were able to win some games they otherwise would have lost IMO. Their defense wouldn't be any better without Kobe (at least not noticeably) because there is no one else there better on their bench (which is sad). Their offense might be a little better, but I doubt it and they have been good enough on offense to win games, their defense is the issue.

anyone shooting 31% when the other guy with the most shots is shooting 66% should seriously shut the up

    Bean 10-32
    Gasol 10-15

Gasol made the same amount of attempt while taking 17 less shots

No. There were two different coaches and Kobe failed to adjust. He's so dead set in his ways and proving that he is the Alpha it does not matter. You can win with Spolestra, or Vinny Del Negro, it's not the coach..

Are you saying that team, without Kobe, would have a worse record than they have now?

Yes. Because Kobe started so flukishly well offensively.

more than likely they would but it's a combination of things. You're bigger than everyone else and you bring in a coach that uses smaller players and shooters that do not stress defense. Jim Buss is brutal.

Kobe had a bad shooting day it happens...but actually you should be the one shutting tha up...you gonna really toss out that about that got ass Gasol FINALLY having a decent game.... please...all these Spur fan es have an agenda and an axe to grind...as long as were losing they're cool....Kobe says something that could get the wheels of change spinning and now Spurs getting scared because it could mean a positive change...well every Spur fan and they mammas...Kobe doing what he has to do..he's the one making Dr, Buss $75 mil a year..it's not ing Gasol, Nash, or Dwight's rudimentary ass

It shows how fragile Kobe is that he can have one of the most talented rosters in the history of the league and because he can't make it work he asks for more? No other superstar has had as much help on their way to their les as Kobe. If this was the Smush Parker Lakers, ok, but this is ridiculous and it shows you that even Kobe knows he needs by far the most talented team in the league to even sniff a le.

It's crazy losing 8 of 10 they're still only 3 games out of the 8 seed due to Houston and Portland having their seasons spiral out of control.

I can't imagine how toxic that locker room has to be for a team with that much talent to be playing .425 ball.

^ Yup. Even when LA struggles they still have some of the most luck in the league. This look as if the 8th seed in the West this year will have a very, very low win total where the past couple years the win% was higher.

Kobe is putting up prime numbers, Dwight is putting up numbers right in line with his prime, Nash is still healthy and coming off a great year. Artest is revived and putting up great numbers. Pau is struggling, but he's still elite. This is one of the most talented rosters in the history of the league with the pedigree they have.
