That's very cool. From all time greats, I've met and have autographs of Magic Johnson and Bill Walton...
I met Jeff Ruland at a Rockets game once, and saw Clarence Weatherspoon at a ty bar in Houston.
Yeah, it's not nearly as good a story.
Sweet pics! Thanks for sharing; you were right there in the action!
is the Belly next to Dejuan Boudini's?
Both pretty awesome. My best is getting the Iceman to sign my Spurs hat along with most of the guys from the 2005 championship team prior to game 6 of the finals (except Horry, who used to go through the opposite tunnel just so he wouldn't have to sign any autographs).
Side note to that story, Eva was there also and signing photographs, but I thought to myself, "This isn't sticking around for long," so I snatched my hat away before she could get to it. A proud moment of forethought in my life.
My all time favorite story of meaning a famous basketball player though, if ya'll will indugle me, is when I almost ran over Mutombo as he was coming out of a grocery store in my neighborhood (this was a few years back when he was still playing for Houston). This giant steps out in front of me, it wasn't too close or anything, but I did have to come to a bit of an abrupt stop, which he noticed as he stopped to stare at me. It took me a second to register that this was ing Dikembe Mutombo, and as he glared at me I slowly raised my hand and gave him the ol' finger wave. I don't think he was amused, but I still laugh about that when I think of it.
