And you're right, there are probably more gay people in Sydney than other areas of Australia because they'd be less likely to be gangbashed for being gay in Sydney, once again because of lower bogan proportions.

I can't remember a time that I didn't use it as a putdown. I think the actual definition is a guy who gets a job doing something he sucks at just because he kind of looks like the guy who used to do that same job really well.

Footy at Collingwood games in Melbourne have the most bogans. Although I've found many of the older Collingwood fans are decent folk. But it's not like London days when you had the 'Inner City Firm' (West Ham hard core) against the Gooners (Arsenal Gunners hard core).
