He was anxious, it was obvious by the way he ran across the court. At the AT&T he will receive the ball in a fastbreak and do a nice splitter's dunk.

Ridiculous thread. Give me 5 minutes and 6 fouls...all in the playoffs against Serge Ibaka/Nck Collison. Got half a season to work on it.

Guy was paid as a scrub and is that what he is. No misteries, no surprises. Splitter had a bigger salary in Europe than the value he accepted to play in the Spurs. Some things speak by itself.

Dude the guy played like 1 second. He'll be fine.
He doesn't know any of our plays.
He probably doesnt know half the names of his new teammates.

TBH i thought it was bad to put him in at the end when the game is already over. Couple of desperate attempts from the opponent and a couple of ups and you can make it seem like he nearly lost the game. He should have entered the game much earlier or never entered the game at all.

That situation for a rook not knowing anyone or any plays, that 30 seconds PT can all be bad, unfortunately it was with a desperate team trying to win in crunchtime and they got it close.

Get him on the floor earlier!! He won't learn or show anything he is capable of in 30 second stints at the end of a ballgame. He looked huge out there! He looked really quick to. To see what he's capable of he needs to be played earlier in the game. Not scrub minutes when theres nothing to be done except to not lose the game. Get him in there to see if he can help us get those leads. On his height, physical credentials and that damn speed he can be really good. I'm gunnin for this er and starting a 'Play Baynes' chant all over the city.

Agree with that, i thought when we were up by 26 would have been a good time to put him in.

You shouldn't hit your dog, especially not on the head.
I knew out of all that entire post, someone was gonna reply to the dog comment. It didn't take very long.

Dude is big, and in that quick flash of pt, he looked like he likes to be physical on the boards. He went and found someone to block out on the 3 ball attempted.

what really irked me was the previous play where Baynes was in the post with one guy only to guard him, the ball passed around every Spurs players and no one had the determination to pass to the rookie... I thought it was a cold reception

Didn't the inbound pass get deflected? I don't understand all these idiots piling on to circle jerk with the OP. I'll be sure to bump this thread in a few weeks when Baynes is taking a dump on players nightly on the court.

I just laugh at the ppl who were ready to trade players to make room for for this new guy before he even played one minute and I just laugh at his debut. It doesnt mean a thing but was quite funny! I sure hope he can make an inbound pass the next game. If he plays 5 garbage minutes here and there that's fine and what is expected of him. If he is better than that then it's just great.

found someone to block out on the 3 ball attempted.
an instinct, reflex MUCH more important for a guy whose primary role will be rebounding, than handling an inbound press in a full court pass.

Spurs fans wondered if this guy could give the Spurs more time on ESPN (highlights, dunks). He didnt, but theres a chance the outcome is the same, i mean Shaqtin a Fool could use that play....just kidding...

Lets see what he does when he touches the ball inside the court.
Still, funny that this thread exists. I just posted this on another thread: NO MERCY in this Forum!

    Blah, blah, blah.

The value in what happened was actually a teaching lesson for coach Bud. You don't put a new guy whose job is to rebound and knock people around in that situation, in his first game, and cold off the bench. It's probably a good thing because making a mistake and moving on goes along way to playing without being afraid to make a mistake.

No harm no foul. I look at the situation as a value add for both Bud and Baynes. You got to keep your head in the game at all times. It's a lesson that if Blair would have ever learned he would not find himself on the end of the bench.

The same thing happened two games in a row, and Baynes wasn't playing in the first one. So yeah maybe the common factor is someone else...

I've got to admit, I was horrified by the gaffe, but I was laughing my ass off at how he high-tailed it out of there afterwards!!! He was like...uh....I think I', going to go guard the paint, yeah, that's it.

It's only funny because of the over the top predictions from this site that as a rookie he's going to be something more than a two point, two rebound average guy that gets 5 minutes a game barring injuries to other players.

of course his turnover is not any indication of his overall ability to make an impact on the team. He's never played an NBA minute, he sat the whole game, and they inserted him in the game when the other team was pressing like crazy. He needed to be sharp at that moment and he didn't have the same focus as the other guys that had played minutes. If Dallas had waived the white flag, he would have gotten a shot attempt and if he made that shot this site would be taking about him making the all star team next year.

But don't you know, thats literally EVERYBODY that we sign to fill the 15th man slot, mid-season. They're ALWAYS the savior of the franchise.

The other savior is the doghouse big that can't get off the bench. Ian Mahinmi would have won us 7 championships in 3 seasons if we'd given him a chance. He was THAT good - if you believe what you read on Spurstalk.
