That was inexcusable
Anyone else catch the end of that Jazz Pacers game?? What the heck, why wasn't that a turnover by Utah??![]()
The Pacers got hosed.
Just makes no sense..
I mean not only do they not call it, they dont even freaking review it. What could have been going on in there minds??
Any videos out yet?..
I haven't seen it, but what was "going through their minds" was that they were officiating a Utah home game, where the Jazz receive the OKC treatment every game..
Terrible... and they didn't even went to replay... which is bull ... they got robbed
Utah up 2 with 2.0 secs left, and the Utah player inbounds the ball and hits the backboard... refs call a foul on a utah player, and don't review the play... in the meantime, you can see the replays clearly show the ball hitting the backboard...
Talking about it on NBA tv, they are saying if its off the padded area instead of actually off the "back" of the backboard from an out of bounds play, its legal.
I find that hard to believe, but if its true there should obviously be a rule change..
Having trouble finding a video this early. If anyone finds, post it.
No they didn't, i mean the dudes ON nba tv (Denis scott and Mike Fratello) they seem confused too, but thats what they are saying.
I was surprised that they didn't review it. In real time, immediately after the foul was called, the official furthest from the play came back to say something to Marc Davis, the crew chief, about the play. After that, the Pacers seemed to be insisting that Davis at least look at the play and Davis absolutely refused. I can't imagine that the play wouldn't be reviewable since it does concern an out-of-bounds scenario, so my assumption was that Davis was absolutely certain that there was no reason to change the call.
It seems su ious that Davis wouldn't even review it, though..
There are far more conclusive calls that are reviewed every game..
Plus the whole point of reviewing is to make sure they get the call right... there's really no reason not to
OK so apparently the rule is "The Five sides of the backboard, front, two sides, bottom and top, are considered in play when contacted by the basketball. The back of the backboard and the are directly behind it are out of bounds" Only thing is I remember a game last year against the lakers (when we blew them out) when they tried to do a lob pass out of bounds for an alley-opp, it hit the side of the backboard and we got the ball back.. whatever
It was getting late for the Mormons at the game so Stern and his minions ignored the obvious turnover and sent the Mormons on their way home to go to bed and rest for church in the morning.
You have to beat the Jazz by 15 points at the Temple of Mormon to actually win in Salt Lake City.
love me some gordon hayward though. that kid's got game
Reminds me of Manu minus the balls-to-the-wall mentality IMO
Been like that since the day they moved to the Delta Center. LOL Utah always being complete crap on the road but then magically great at home.
I dont know.. I mean they were never THAT bad on the road, and back in the day and now sometimes, their fans can be killer.. sometimes reminds of OKC fans
Marc Davis is one of the worst refs in the league and is a stubborn asshole as well.
