Applewhite, Chambers and Porter went by Desoto to visit Dontre Wilson I believe yesterday to outline how he would be used in Texas offense, they are putting on full court press.
As of this morning, 24/7 saying WR Sebastian LaRue of Santa Monica, CA has shut things down and won't be taking any additional official visits. Looks like Texas will proceed with JUCO WR Ronald Butler if everything checks out. Word is Butler would commit to Texas quickly if given the chance.
And for anyone that may have missed it, the sexual assault case involving QB Case McCoy and LB Jordan Hicks has officially been closed.
A few notes from 24/7...
-the first spring practice is tentatively scheduled for February 21st. The spring game should be March 31st.
-DT A'Shawn Robinson is the only official visitor expected this weekend.
-the UT staff is already working on dividing up the new recruiting territories within the state of Texas:
Major Applewhite and Manny Diaz = Central Texas which includes Austin, Round Rock and Waco.
Larry Porter = west side of Houston and below downtown which includes Katy and Fort Bend schools.
Darrell Wyatt = almost everything in DFW including Plano, Denton and Garland.
Stacy Searels = keeping most of East Texas.
Bruce Chambers = staying in the south Dallas area including Arlington, Mansfield and Mesquite.
Bo Davis = Golden Triangle (Beaumont, Orange, Port Arthur) and certain parts of East Texas including Lufkin.
Oscar Giles = taking schools above downtown Houston and the greater Houston area.
Duane Akina = staying in San Antonio and the surrounding towns.

LaRue to A&M. Who also wins the award for coolest name in the 2013 class.
OrangeBloods saying Texas has decided to pass on JUCO WR Ronald Butler. No specifics other than he wasn't a fit.
Per 24/7, Larry Porter was recruiting in Louisiana today and has extended a Junior Day invite to 2014 RB Darrell Williams of Marrero, LA.

ou heavyweight backup qb blake bell aka belldozer reportedly looking to transfer
wait what? Both Bell and Allen are transfering?
I'm gonna assume that person is mistaken and he meant Drew Allen.
Looks like they are gonna roll with Trevor Knight
Seems like the only guy reporting it is a college basketball writer.
Kind of hard to believe right now.
apparently 4 star DE recruit @DaeshonHall who is committed to @UW_Football is on the Baylor campus today @BUFootball
@DaeshonHall: @D_Hill80 @UW_Football @BUFootball what are you talking about im a home.![]()
Braden Smith OT from Olate, Kansas 2014 class. This dude is an absolute monster.
6'6
36 inch vertical
Benches 475
He's a JUNIOR and 16 years old. Ridiculous.
the recruitniks have had a hard on for this guy for a couple years already - he must be a beast on the field. a lot of people thought smith really liked the sooners #1 just a few months ago, but hard to see a prospect like that going to ou with the disarray in their program. i believe nebraska is probably the leader now but could easily see ags making a move with the OT spots being up for grabs in near future.
texas is recruiting smith - not sure how hard, but i believe searels already went out to visit him. smith has expressed interest in all 4 programs.
Knox, Joe, and Gresham at some camp

Former longhorn pledge Durham Smythe (TE) committed to Notre Dame earlier today. Never really read about what happened with him, just an FYI if anyone cares.
Per hookem 247
I checked in with a hometown source to see how A'Shawn Robinson's visit went. In case you didn't know, Robinson took an official visit to Texas this weekend, which will be his last official visit before National Signing Day in February. Prior to the Texas visit, Robinson visited Alabama last weekend, USC in December and Florida State in September.
As for the visit, the source told me it went as well as it possibly could, which should please both Longhorn fans and coaches.
"We didn't get to talk a whole lot about it, but it sounded like it went really good," said the source. "He had a great time on his visit. The trip answered a lot of questions he had about the campus, school, academics, coaches and even how all they plan to use him. He was really happy with the way everything went."
The five-star Robinson committed to Texas back in February of 2012, but once he started taking visits, many questioned if he would stay that way. It looks like this weekend might have sealed the deal.
"I believe it only solidified his commitment to the University of Texas," the source told Hookem.com. "Like I said he was very happy with it all and how it all worked out. He had a great time seeing everything and going to the basketball game as well. It was a lot of fun for him and it sounds like he enjoyed a taste of things to come for him down in Austin."
Robinson is the No. 26 overall player in the nation and No. 3 at his position.
Losing Smythe hurts. Pure TEs are very, very rare in state. It's a position UT must go out of state for in the future. California would be a great place to start.
In my opinion, the Smythes made a football decision. They don't like how UT utilizes their TEs and they went in another direction.
I'm genuinely concerned about UT's DE depth. I feel pretty good about Ced Reed, but I think the position needs more help. I'd like to see UT sign 3 high school DEs in addition to Roberson, and possibly look at JUCO DE for 2014. Hall can definitely play and is a loss.
2014 LB Otaro Alaka of Cypress Falls will be a the February 23rd Junior Day, per 24/7.
2014 OL Kealvin Davis of Garland Lakeview Centennial committed to A&M yesterday at their Junior Day.

Quotes from 2014 LB Otaro Alaka (24/7):
“When he (Oscar Giles) stopped by my school I didn’t hear anything about an invite,” said Alaka. “But later he got a hold of me to let me know they wanted me down in Austin for their junior day. They invited me to the one on Feb. 23 and I do plan on going for sure.”
“If they (Texas) offered they would definitely be in my top two,” he said. “Right now it’s Oklahoma and Northwestern, but if they offered it would be OU and Texas. I’m not sure if I would commit on the spot, but it is definitely possible. I would consider it.”
“Honestly, I’ve always liked Texas a lot,” Alaka told Hookem.com. “I’ve been a fan for a long time. I also like the fact that they are a strong academic school that is in- state.”
“Right now Oklahoma is recruiting me the hardest,” said Alaka. “Besides Texas, I’ve heard from Oklahoma State a lot too. Nebraska and Texas Tech have both recently offered. I also have offers from Arkansas, Northwestern, Ole Miss and some others. But if Texas offered them and Oklahoma would be my favorites."
