Yesssss.
did you watch it in one go?
My favorite film of all time.
Are you a fan of horror films at all? This was practically an homage to horror films.. guessing it flew over your head or your just not a fan of the genre.
I'm a horror fan, I got the homage bit, but the film didn't work for me as well. I think they had a clever premise but failed to deliver on both the comedy and horror elements, which should have been pushed a lot harder. Crappy cgi didn't help either IMO.
I dont understand why people have the need to use the "Are you a fan of horror films" card when someone doesn't agree or likes a movie of a certain genre.
The fact they used some elements from a couple of horror films doesn't make this movie a hit or even good.
The plot, dialogue and the acting was rather poor on this one.
Cabin in the Woods wasn't completely terrible, so, for a horror movie, that actually makes it pretty good. but I was expecting more from Whedon
Sinister starring Ethan Hawk...started out extremely creepy and eerie...thought it was going to be a really good movie until it started going more to the paranormal route...it would have been soooooo much more scarier and creepier if they went more of the real life serial killer route...I would give it a 5 out of 10...started out with huge potential...kind of a big let down...
Julie and Julia 8/10
The Kings Speech 8/10
Prometheus 7/10
The Avengers 6/10
Moonrise Kingdom 8/10
Rampart 5/10
The Rise of the Planet of the Apes 8/10
The Funeral - 1996
Boffo cast: Christopher Walken, Chris Penn, Benicio Del Toro, Gretchen Mol
Slow burning Gangster flick, a quirky take on the genre. Interesting & I'd watch it again.
8/10
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol 6/10
Lost complete interest midway through the movie. Couldn't even tell you what went on at points during the movie.
This one...
Hmmmm...4
LOL...
My daughter bought me the BluRay for Xmas. It's still in the cellophane.
Seriously.
Has anyone taken the time to watch "The Man from Earth?"
Maybe I'm odd... yes... plenty of people will say that...
But...
I think it was an absolutely great movie. Maybe I should have said 10/10, but I never give a 10.
I read that Jerome Bixby completed the script on his deathbed. As a screenwriter/director myself, I find this very interesting. I'll try to watch it later today if I can find the time, hopefully it's still on Netflix.
Seven Psychopaths 8/10
I loved it and Sam Rockwell killed.
Sinister -2012
The movie that answers the question "Is Fred Thompson still in movies?"
But seriously, you'd hope at some point film makers would move past the entire "meta" take on horror movies. There's more to the genre than structure and mechanics.
3/10
Fastest 8/10
A nice little do entary about the world of MotoGP.
Very nice watch but I thought they focused too much on Valentino Rossi and made his rival (Jorge Lorenzo) look like the bad guy which I thought was cheap specially since they were on the same "team."
Dark Knight Returns Part 2 was pretty good.
Yeah, I've seen it. I think I ranked it about a 7/10. Good movie. Interestingly. there was a TOS Star Trek episode that was eerily similar. Looked it up on IMDB, and the writer of The Man From Earth, Jerome Bixby, also wrote the Star Trek episode I was thinking of.
Cinema Paradiso - 10/10. Not gonna front, I was bawling my eyes out at the end. Never tried so hard to fight back tears (b/c I was watching with my gf), but couldn't help it. I was so wrapped up in the film (usually I'm half-heartedly analyzing while watching) that I had no idea what the old man's gift was that he left to him. Once he plays the film at the end, tears were streaming down my face uncontrollably![]()
