The new judge in the Fort Hood shooting case could decide this week whether or not the accused shooter, Nidal Hasan, could face the death penalty. The judge will take into consideration some of the motions previously rejected in this ever-changing case. According to Hasan's attorney, he wants to plead guilty to 13 counts of premeditated murder.
Currently, this is a death penalty case, and under military rules the judge cannot accept a guilty plea when the death penalty is an option. If the death penalty is eliminated as an option, Hasan's punishment would be life without the possibility of parole.
Hasan is accused of killing 13 people and injuring 32 others at Fort Hood Army base in 2009.

it's all in the game. the ucmj allows for the possibility. I hope the judge rejects their request and they go forward with the trial as charged.

The NRA should file brief saying that the country needs every well-trained handgun murderer so this guy should get probation at worst.

Imho, the death penalty is too easy of a way out for s bags like that guy.... he deserves to slowly rot away in a cell for the rest of his days.... it's also actually cheaper for the taxpayers to NOT give him the death penalty - why should we spend extra money on mass murderers?

Eating three times a day. Getting commissary. Getting to have his own TV and shower and recreational equipment in his own cell. Able to publish his hate books as long as he doesn't make a profit. If he's lucky, he'd get to go to Gitmo and be treated like royalty

Well, he is paralyzed, so I think that part's gotta suck a lot of the "joy" out of what you've posted....

FTR, I don't care one way or the other. Life w/o parole or death makes no difference to me.

He should be sentenced to living at your house. He could probably help you with that whole confirmation bias RSS feed thing.
