Well he does wear #16 so 6'10 is good for him.
    He also finished with 7 pts and 9 boards: 7 + 9 = 16

I like this dude. A serious man crush is what it is. With every time he goes up he's tryna BANG that hoe. Most of you may not like it, but I think we have a "Monkeyball" player on our hands. The boy just wrote Blairs ticket outta here.

Yeah that's exactly what he is and what we needed, a monkeyballer.

It feels like it's very hard to find good monkeyballers when you draft low, so getting Baynes may be the best move they have pulled off since trading GHill for KY.

Now I can't help but wonder about his ceiling and about a potential Tim Baynes KY rebounding frontline, it's no secret that I think we can do better than Splitter if we're gonna play someone with zero range next to Tim...

    A couple of thoughts-

    first the negatives
    One game
    It was against the Bobcats

    However I was impressed
He is more athletic than I thought- scouting reports out college called him lumbering. Looks like he has good instincts- On the block, immediately went after the ball instead of watching it or being satisfied with himself. Very good motor. So far looks like he has decent hands
He is big. Was a little concerned about his height given various reports 6-9, 6-10 etc.

I'm excited to see his game grow in our system. I think he is more athletic than Reggie Evans, and more offensive minded, too. with playing time, he can easily average 6 rebounds a game. And i wanna see him banging with the likes of Perkins, Ibaka, DeAndre, Gasol and Randolph in the remaining games. I think the spurs have found another gem in him. Go spurs!

With Baynes in the team, and IF he continues to play strong, i think it's not too far-fetched to say that Dejuan's days with the spurs could be numbered..

For 250 pounds, he's very light on his feet, and those tree trunk legs got some hop. And cool head, too.

I noticed at all times he keeps his hand on the player he's covering to make sure where he is at all times, but at the same time waiting for the block. An omfg if he would've caught that ally hoop from Tony P. Or the pass when he rolled to the basket with no onein front of him but the defense got a hand on it at the last sec. I was like man if he an manu get a chemistry down, O my dammn.

It seems to me that he's a smart "Monkeyballer" though. That other BS when he had a TO an played 40 sec wasn't a debut. This was his com8ng out party, an I liked it.

Baynes looked good. Tough minded and wanting to bang with the other players for the boards. The Spurs needed that type of player with a head on his shoulders. Nice numbers for his debut, even though it was the Bobcats. Loved the block!

Probably he started to play basketball late. It explains why he is so unskilled and raw. He will be at his prime in two years.

You didn't get the point, the point is that if we gonna play someone without range next to Tim, that player should be able to rebound/defend better than Splitter, especially rebound better. That's what I'm saying.

Baynes can start against tougher bigs but no way he can start against more skilled players. He's too raw and needs to receive easy passes. I predict monster dunks and ridiculous turnovers from him. Washington will be a better test for him, since their bigs are slight better than the bobcats ones.

Okay, sorry for the misunderstanding then and sorry for the name calling.

It's a great situation honestly because Splitter is still improving as a rebounder and defender. I think I prefer having a more of an offensive oriented finesse player next to Tim (as opposed to a defensive bruiser). A guy who can do most of the screen setting and also score efficiently next to Tim, which in turn allows him to relax on offense and hang on the perimeter more (making it a shorter distance i.e. easier to get back on defense for him as well, less wear and tear). Haven't seen what Baynes is capable of yet, but I highly doubt he is at Splitter's level or ever will be (although like u said we really don't know yet). The more Duncan rests on offense the more he'll have a defensive impact, and from what we've seen this year he is still capable of having DPOY stretches when he's feeling good.

Yeah I think short term at least Baynes is meant to play backup center where he'll fit great with Boris passing him the ball.

I think Baynes may be a tad slow to play PF but at the same time, I feel like Tiago really has something to prove vs a team like OKC, that has great rebounding and shotblocking, I'm just not very confident in that matchup.

Monster dunks and ridiculous turnovers...you want Baynes to be JaVaLe McGeE?

And the Wizards bigs are much better than those of the Bobcats. It's the wings that suck for Washington. (Not that the Bobcats wings are much better)

Well hopefully by then Baynes will be available as an option if the thunderefs' front line is giving Splitter problems. Thing I'm more concerned about honestly, is Pop will around at least a few games before making any changes and in 7 game series that usually spells disaster. When the spurs start the playoffs somebody needs to remind him its not the preseason anymore.

I think Splitter will hold his own this year. He had a couple of real nice games against the thunder in last year's playoffs that would have been better if he could have made a foul shot. This year he is much more confident not only in foul shooting but overall.

Should Baynes do really well for the remainder of the season, would he qualify to be a Rookie of the Year candidate?

This question is not intended to be my personal opinion of the mans skills, but more of an inquiry on the rules of the contest should a rookie comes into the league mid-season.

Thanks in advance for the answers.
