Imagine the reaction if you had started the game thread

Also, assuming the MRI is happening tomorrow at this point, can that also be a good sign since you'd assume if it was something major they would try to have an MRI asap. If my franchise player had a possible career threatening injury, I wouldn't be like "Hmm...let's wait till Monday"

Dang, Timmy's daughter is so tall already.

If that pic is really from today, that's a great sign.

Players with ACL tears aren't allowed to walk around like that, right? Hopefully he's fine.
That is not right ... I was allowed to walk for six weeks with an ACL tear until it was determined that surgery was necessary (a professional athlete will always have surgery of course) ... walking with a brace is not a problem

But I still do not think he has an ACL tear ... it just did not look that way

The thinking would probably be more like "if something major is wrong it'll still be there tomorrow, relax and watch the Super Bowl", tbh.

Agreed. It would be pretty selfish to ruin the greatest sports event of the year

scro I legitimately think the Spurs are Fool's Gold (with a healthy Duncan)--which is why I made that bet with jester. It's not posturing, I just can't possibly see a team that's so scrub-reliant making it to the Finals.

Agreed. Spurs are a shining example of team basketball, but the later rounds always almost comes down to who has the better superstar/star sidekick combo. Spurs don't have two guys who can consistently drop 25 points in the same game, like the Thunder or Heat.

Looking at Websters tweets and it looks like he's really bummed about it.

Anyway, it's a good sign if Tim is walking around.

The Laker bench is all scrubs save for Pout Gasol and possibly Jamison. That's why they will be lucky to make the playoffs.

With regards to Tim, if he was severely hurt, he would not be out on walk with his daughter. He'd have some sort of assistance-A cane, crutches, a wheelchair, the bulky brace-BECAUSE the med staff would want to minimize any further injury. Tim is what 36, 37 now. He's 255 or so and that weight goes straight to the base. He's holding his daughter's hand on his left side. If he's favoring his bad leg, then he should shift her to his right side. But he didn't do that. He didn't stay home, he went out.

For you peeps who said you have had the ACL tear, think back....adrenaline or whatever, 6 weeks long or whatever. When you did it, you were probably less than 25 years old, less than 245 pounds, and you probably were NOT wearing a custom fitted brace whose function in life is to prevent any extraneous movement, plus you probably did NOT have a trainer check your brace fitting before every game. Think about that - Tim should be broken and on his way to Alabama for surgery to give him a chance at the playoffs. The Bears aren't playing so he could probably care less about the Super Bowl, but he is in San Antonio and out in public.

Did you guys notice that once the 3rd quarter started that Will Sevening was back at the bench?
If Tim warranted additional care because of the injury, then Will would have stated back. But he didn't...he was there next to Pop once the game resumed.

    All signs point towards positivity.

Wasn't talking about the bet or the Spurs' championships chances tbh. I feel the same way as mid, though i think we can get past a Harden-less OKC.

Was referring to your initial reaction when prob your most hated player went down . I'd imagine if it happened to Kobe, i'd have a pretty ed up smile before i came too my senses and felt bad for Lakerfan tbh.

Dallas over Miami, Detroit over Lakers. It happens

I've never hated Tim Duncan. Robinson is a got (and a loser), but Duncan I always had respect for.

    Super Bowl?

No, I'm pretty convinced that the biggest thing in sports today is this MRI.

    Just my personal assessment though...

Even if an MRI shows that there is no ACL damage, my concern is that this will flare up the problems he has had with his knee. Does anybody know if the persistent knee problems is quad tendnosis, as stated in the following article from 2009?

Duncan (right quad tendonosis) sits again

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3934515
This is the best that Tim has felt in years but now having a weak leg with limited mobility could really alter his production, as we have seen in seasons past.

well, he is 36 so him being in All-Star form pre injury was an outlier tbh

its not like he was above the rim... he was playing well within his athletic limitations. didn't even leave his feet for half of his blocks

@WojYahooNBA: MRI on Tim Duncan's knee shows no structural damage, Spurs say. He will be day to day.
