Luck and Kaepernick will be the only two in that group that ring at all.
*I didn't include all the terrible quarterbacks like Gabbert and Locker here. They may catch fire and all, but I don't think they'll even be starting soon, let alone winning.
Kaep seems like the obvious choice, but I could see the 9ers going the way of the Jets. I think the biggest reason why San Francisco lost last night was poor coaching. The way Jim was acting after the game, I don't know if that's going to get fixed any time soon.
Luck and Kaepernick will be the only two in that group that ring at all.
Addendum: What the it up with the text color on the polls? Is that something I can change?
I like Dalton. I think the Bengals will be better than the Colts for the foreseeable future. Once the Patriots and Broncos fade, I see only the Ravens standing in the Bengals' way to at least making the big dance.
Agreed. I voted for Russell Wilson.
Andrew Luck will win the most SBs out of the bunch, but Russell Wilson's team is young and stacked--if any black QB wins a SB, it'll be him. RG3 and Cam will never sniff a SB
RG3 will ring in his career, imo, but the 'Skins will have to work on that supporting cast first.... same with Luck, although Luck won't have a chance to ring until he cuts down on the turnovers, tbh....
With the hiring of Pep Hamilton as OC, Luck's turnovers will drastically decrease in the WCO. Indy has some holes to fill, but with 47 million in cap + the draft the Colts should be able to shore up some problems.
Luck, Kaep, Wilson, and Dalton have the best chance IMO.
I was excited for Dalton till the playoff game this year. He was embarrassingly awful and looked weak-minded. Yeah, the Texans' D played well, but Dalton missed 2 TD passes to Green by overthrowing and underthrowing him. He was just terrible all game and seemed to regress.
In order from least likely-
8) Christian Ponder is a horrible QB who doesn't belong in this poll (or the NFL for that matter).
7) Newton has yet to lead his team to a winning season and handled adversity like a 5 year old girl would this season. He didn't start playing well till there was no pressure on him and Carolina's season was sunk.
6) I think Tannehill had a very underrated year getting Miami to 7 wins when they were expected to compete for the #1 pick, but he's a B12 quarterback and that franchise is a partial birth abortion that has been atrocious outside the year defense's didn't have film on the Wildcat yet.
5) I was starting to buy into Dalton but he completely the bed against a very beatable Texans team. The Bengals' ceiling is winning 10-11 games with a cake walk regular season schedule and then losing the first game of the playoffs because they spent the week leading up to it celebrating the fact they surpassed expectations. Maybe my tune changes on Dalton if Cinci gets a coach who actually prepares his team for playoff games.
4) RG3 would be top 3 if not for his knee injury, being a B12 QB on team that relies on the pistol, and the fact his team won't be able to add anything in the draft the next two years because of what they gave up. I think he can be a good pocket passer but when I saw him this year I saw no ability to fit the ball into tight windows and complete passes to receivers that weren't wide open.
3) The stars were aligned for Kaepernick this year and he couldn't do it with a team that was almost completely healthy. He'll progress as a passer but he relies more on the pistol offense than any other QB so his play will dip the most once defense's figure the pistol out. SF had almost everything go right for them this season and they still came up short. Kaepernick is the best at fitting the ball into tight windows of him, Wilson, and RG3 though.
1-2) I give the slight edge to Luck over Wilson because he has a lot more room to grow, his team has $45,000,000 in cap room this off season, and his team plays in the AFC. Wilson is far less dependent on the pistol than RG3 or Kaepernick, but I still haven't seen much from him throwing into tight coverage and he still relies a lot on roll outs/play action. Seattle's inability to win on the road is also a problem as their defense dips significantly w/o that crowd.
this topic, for including monkeyballing faces like R 3 and Cam ton.
Andrew Luck will massacre all these mother ers.
Real talk, how does Marvin Lewis still have a job? He's been the Bengals HC since 2001 and has ZERO playoff wins in that timespan. He only has 4 appearances overall, with 3 of those games being blowouts (the lone exception was Schaub keeping Cincy in the game this year). Everyone knows the improvement in that team has come from the GM, Zimmer, and Gruden, too.
i have to ride with the hot hand and that is colin k.
right behind him is wilson then luck in the top 3 most likely to win a super bowl.
As far as I've heard, Lewis has never really even been close to being fired. Actually, he threatened to leave a couple of years ago and got a raise. I think Mike Brown likes Lewis because he's one of the lowest-paid head coaches in the league, especially when you factor in his seniority. Some owners just don't care about winning if they still make money off their teams.
But I don't think Lewis is a bad coach. He really started to lose influence in the locker room toward the end of the 00s. I think he should have been fired then, but the Bengals lingered, and eventually they got rid of their veterans instead. Now that the team's been turned over, he's getting another shot, and so far, the team is looking all right. So long as Brown has an excuse to keep him, I think he will.
On Dalton, I wouldn't fault him too much yet. He's still young. Rather than just getting him great young play-makers like Green this off-season, the Bengals should try to get a solid veteran to play the role that Tony Gonzalez did for Matt Ryan. Maybe Anquan Boldin or Wes Welker?
I agree he sucks, but damn me if I ever bet against Peterson again. AD may just drag him to a ring next year.
Yeah, he doesn't seem to have the head for it. This off-season is critical for Carolina. That front office and coaching staff have to hit multiple homeruns to get that team on track.7) Newton has yet to lead his team to a winning season and handled adversity like a 5 year old girl would this season. He didn't start playing well till there was no pressure on him and Carolina's season was sunk.
I like Tannehill as well. But I don't see anything else on that team that makes me think they'll even be in contention for a playoff spot any time soon. A couple of good picks may have changed that, but now they have to use one on a tackle because Long is probably going to leave and isn't that good anymore regardless.6) I think Tannehill had a very underrated year getting Miami to 7 wins when they were expected to compete for the #1 pick, but he's a B12 quarterback and that franchise is a partial birth abortion that has been atrocious outside the year defense's didn't have film on the Wildcat yet.
Russell Wilson will win it all next season.
