Barry having to watch TP destroy Dwill and give him prhaps. Awkward!
my thoughts exactly. ESPN's been trolling JB by assigning him to so many Spurs games lately.

He made his free throws; Spurs' long time reputation was as a poor free throw shooting team.
I figured it was a tongue in cheek remark about the Spurs free-throw history. Funny to see it threw some people.

It seems obvious that Baynes is receiving a acious amount of info concerning the Spurs O sets. Maybe a while before he can challenge for the fifth big.

"Hey...good to see you man. You played great tonight."

    "Thanks man."

"Bet you will be glad when Tim gets back. Then ESPN can go back to talking about a great Spurs player and stop talking about you."

"Yeah...you know...that will be nice. Hey, remember that time I ed all over your sister in law? Those were fun times. Say hi to Brent for me. Peace."

I apologize for the Baynes confusion. Yeah, the old ST joke was that a new player missing his free throws was just their way of proving they want to play for the Spurs. I guess it doesn't make sense anymore since the Spurs can actually shoot free throws now...

    Baynes looked fine.

I think it going to be hader for baynes when Nando and Patty are trying to get him some ball. He needs to play with TP and then we will se him start to hit his groove. I think him playing with TP is looking remote

Great game! i was able to get some VIP access and got to see some of the guys warm up before the game, (Thankfully had the pleasure of watching Timmy shoot jumpers for about 10 minutes) Amazing experience, got autographs from Tiago, DeColo and Mike B... Wasn't looking too good early on, but way to fight back.

Tony Parker is even better in person....

Parker played quite possibly a "perfect" game. 29 points, 11 dimes, 0 turnovers, 0 fouls. Heck he even hit all 4 of his FT's and his only 3-point attempt. It be interesting to find out from Elias when the last time was that a player had that many points and assists without committing a turnover or foul.

ESPN Stats & Info ‏@ESPNStatsInfo Tony Parker with 29 points, 11 assists & 0 turnovers tonight, a first for his career. The last to hit such totals? Dwyane Wade (Feb 4, 2009)

I think this is the first time in years that I've heard Brent give significant props to Tony on air. 99% of the time he'll stay silent on the sideline. Or, he'll try to shift the conversation to elite point guards in general.

For example, I think a couple of games ago Steve was giving props to Tony Parker and Brent shifted the conversation to how it's so critical to be able to plan for elite PGs on defense these days because people "like Russell Westbrook" are in the league. I don't remember the exact quote but it was something like that. Steve was talking about Tony Parker, and Brent shifted it to elite PGs, using Westbrook as a prototypical example.

Or, if the Big 3 are playing together and Steve starts talking about Tony, Brent will jump in with how important the contributions of Tim and Manu were "in addition." Cue followup quote about longstanding excellence of the Big 3.

Couple of observations from the nosebleeds:

The Barclays Center is pretty damn nice. The scoreboard was especially impressive, though the cupholders at the back of the arm rest kinda threw me off for a second.

The fans were really civil; I didn't get a single insult or negative comment. I was pleasantly surprised. Speaking of fans, there were a lot of Spurs fans in attendance. I'm not sure how well the telecast picked that up, but there were a lot of cheers for Tony (especially after that spin move and layup). Also, one last fan story: o when the Nets were up 9-6, someone behind me said "I expected more from the Spurs." After the game all I could think of was 'Ask and ye shall receive' lol.

Watching Tony Parker play like that in person was absolutely phenomenal; I was surprised to find this, but even from the nosebleeds it's obvious that he's the best player on the floor. What a pleasure that was!

Otoh, DWill is the most overrated player in the NBA. I flatout forgot he was playing at times during the 2nd half. He was awful.

The Spurs' ball movement is so much more impactful watching them live as opposed to TV. That pass that Diaw made over his shoulder to a backcutting Parker (or Green?) was a truly beautiful play. They just played chess while the Nets played checkers in the 2nd half, and it was blatantly obvious how much more intelligent the Spurs played.

    Good night all around.

TP easily has to be in the Top 3 for MVP voting. The only guys who are playing at his level or better are LeBron and Durant, maybe Melo.

It's Jon Barry that does color on ESPN broadcasts, not Brent.
