Funny part is that his average grade by timvp is still 87.7 or so for the season. And that's on a season where he's likely to finish top 5 in the MVP vote again.
Well that makes perfect sense. MVP voting ranks TP against other players in the NBA. timvp's grades rate TP's performance against an optimal version of TP.

It does not make perfect sense at all, because the 13 remaining points don't exist. He'd have to average 40 points, 15 assists, 7 rebounds, 3 steals on 70% shooting and be unrelenting on offense and never make a mistake on defense just to reach 95, at this stage.

That, or you're telling me Lebron would average 90 on the same scale (which would be equally ridiculous).

good for parker. he's really the only hope for the spurs to win a championship. he'll have to dial up to superstar level in the playoffs and carry the team. duncan and ginobili are too old so it's really all up to parker.

Of course it does. You simply don't value TP as highly as timvp does.

This. Parker has had good regular seasons in the past. He needs to put together a complete post season run and be able to handle long defenders, switches on the pick and roll, and teams packing the paint.

How about an example of a PG in the last 20 years who has done all of those things on his way to a championship.

    88, tbh.

It's forgotten now but TP had a relatively slow start to the season. Early on, Duncan was carrying the team. It wasn't until that game against the Celtics on the road did Parker start playing extremely well.

Parker has been 94+ in his recent stretch of awesomeness and 90+ since he caught fire.

Yeah, Tony Parker will never be able to say he's underrated until he wins a finals MVP.

    Tony Parker's January
    33.3 Minutes Per Game
    21.9 Points Per Game
    2.5 Rebounds Per Game
    7.9 Assists Per Game
    .563 Field Goal Percentage
    .353 Three-Point Field Goal Percentage
    .779 Free Throw Percentage

The Spurs go 12-3 despite Duncan and Ginobili missing four games and Pop missing three games.
It's the assists and 3-point percentage that really stand out to me. It just shows the massive improvement that he's made in his game - he went from being a below-average distributor with limited to range to a great distributor with decent range.

    Props Tony!

It's weird how Parker turned into a beast this season as soon as he started wearing his Peak shoes.

    Parker with Peak:
    15 games
    34.5 minutes per game
    24.6 points per game (.579 FG%, .417 3P%, .833 FT%)
    8.8 assists per game

It'll be tight between him and Lebron after that year Lebron went on before the all star break.

    Each conference has a POTM.

Durant is averaging "only" 25.5 points this month so he's out.

Parker's main compe ion is probably James Harden who is averaging 30, 7 and 7 this month.

Oops. Forgot that. I see no reason why Parker won't get I knowing the injury factor.

I was going to mention Harden when I saw the thread had been resurrected. He's had an amazing month too, and his 46 pts the other night against the Thunder garnered a lot of attention. For the month: 30.4P / 7.6R / 7.3A / 56.5% FG, team record 5-3, 3 games to go in February.

I don't think TP's destruction of "the best PG in the NBA" will go unnoticed either.

Remaining games with NBA defensive rank in parentheses:

    Harden: Brooklyn(16), Washington(5), and Milwaukee(10).

    Parker: Golden State(20), Phoenix(23), and Phoenix(23).

Tony's biggest problem may be blowouts that hold down his totals.

Now I'm becoming exigent and I expect a TP clinic on Curry even if I'm a big fan of the kid
