Oh yeah, there's a lot of strategy involved. People just think it's kicking the ball around but it's not. Plus you have to put your players in formations that will work to their strength and the team. A lot of the super low scoring games like (1-0) will involve a team that's not supposed to win the game "park the bus" meaning they'll have all their defenders, midfield and most forwards defending so the other dominant team won't score a goal. It can be annoying and frustrating as but it's part of the strategy. Usually the stronger team will prevail but that's what makes the game exciting if you have a rooting interesting in a team. But much in like every other sport, having a team to root for will make the game more exciting and easier to follow.
I wasn't talking about strategy , I was making a joke about that terrorist country Algeria . They needed a win to advance, and rather than play for a win, they played for a draw because a draw would eliminate both them and the US.

But yeah Soccer has a lot more strategy to it than hockey.

Yeah it's a pretty difficult concept to grasp, especially since it's akin to a man-advantage in soccer (but for 2 minutes).
Yeah, I was trying to read up the rules online for that power play stuff but I couldn't grasp the concept, guess it's one of those things it's easier to understand *the more you watch.

I've even stumbled upon cricket late at night and watch a game with those Middle Eastern teams, read up on the rules and gave up. That's some confusing in itself.

Soccer is right there with NASCAR and bowling on the mind-numbingly boring scale of sports.

There's like 20 formations that a manager needs to use for their players and the type of players you have, how many strikers you have up front, how many people playing on the wings and how many defenders you want in the back. It can get complicated.

My BB, we'll have to disagree on that one. As far as team sports, I can watch Soccer, American Football, and Basketball with ease. I mean from a very general/global sense, these 3 sports have the exact same make-up.

Hockey is terrible, and seeing those orangutans bare-knuckle punche each other with HELMETS on must be setting us back evolutionary as an entire species.
you watch too much NJ and Boston

the scrums and fights are the equivalent of monkeyballing

watch a real hockey team like Detroit play hockey

Nice feud between DD and NA entertaining

everyboy is en led to his opinion doesn't mean you can't respect other sports tbh.

I think baseball is the most boring sport ever but I respect baseball fans and try to understand a bit of how it works.

for me it's rugby soccer basketball and the rest. I actually enjoyed watching football while in the US. Now one thing is certain the stadium of pro American sports are amazingly dead. It's awful. I mean come one try to cheer for your team instead of eating hot dogs and waiting the kiss cam and the free pizza distribution at half time.

Now universities games are awesome ! You feel like people actually care.

I enjoy soccer during the World Cup & baseball during the playoffs.

Baseball games are better in person. I imagine soccer games would be pretty f'n boring apart from the dumb fans who threaten to murder you but who knows since I've never been.

Hockey games have been some of the funnest sporting events I've ever been to considering I don't really know much about the game and could care less about the NHL.

I've caught bits and pieces of World Cup matches before and that's alright I guess. If I had to pick a team in that "sport" it would be Germany.

Funny because Germany was during almost all his history the boring efficient team that wins at the end. I would have understood Brazil or Argentina or Spain, these are some fun teams to watch

I wouldn't put Spain in that list tbh. I think they're enjoyable if you're a purist of the sport and like watching a team dismantle other teams by staying inside the gameplan... a well oiled machine type of team. People who have a passing interest in the sport might find them boring. Actually that's all I can remember during the Euros, how boring Spain was.

Yes they are but they are not famous for that. Their whole history is different. It's like when the spurs are the best offensive team in the league everybody just remember they are boring. But yeah if you never watched soccer and you watch this generation of German players you think wow Germany is playing a beautiful soccer.

I don't think you need a phd in soccer to appreciate what Spain is doing. They are fun to watch, I would agree with you if they were ultra defensive ala Italia of the catenacio.
