Nando starting, will be good to see if he's feeling more comfortable that way.

The Spurs will start off 4 on 5 since De Colo is pretty much a non-threat to do anything.

Well, can't disagree with Pop. But we're getting ing smoked tonight, to say the least...
That leaves us with De Colo, Mills, Neal, Green, Kawhi, Diaw, Bonner, Blair, Splitter, and Baynes. 20+ point loss anyone?
There is zero pressure (on us) in games like this. They'll be bombing away.

Clearly resting them, but doesn't want to get fined.

Well done Stern, now we gotta lie about it.

Wouldn't be surprised if Stern asked for Parker's medical chart.

Let's just hope that TP's "knee swelling" is 100% bogus.
    Yes please!
Hope it's merely a smart move by Pop to rest the stud.

Oh, and it's good to see that Pop isn't flinching about resting his guys when he deems it necessary.
Pops savvy, veteran experience picks up on super hard things to spot like overplaying players. A coach with lesser experience, insight and basketball wisdom would not. For example in 2011 regular season, Manu Ginobili was inserted by CIA Pop in the 82nd game of the regular season in a frivolous chase for the best record in the NBA.
GNobs elbow got reinjured and he had to sit out Game 1 of the playoffs. But CIA Pop had only been an NBA coach for 15 seasons at that time.
Plus the Spurs won two games that entire playoffs. That's two more then Bob Hill won in 2011.
Pop was and is the man.

I should have used blue. I know Spurs will not get an injury exception for all the bogus injuries.

Every player in the league ices pretty much after every game. Got to "sell it" so that the asshole in NY doesn't fine them again.

I love Pop. He couldn't resist giving Stern a big YOU sitting Parker for the Spurs only appearance in Chicago this year.

Honestly, I think he's just been resting Duncan this whole time as well.

Maybe next year the NBA will reconsider having us play our only games in Chicago and Miami on the 2nd night of back to backs.

    Nope.

Pop only gets fined if he puts the Big Three on a plane back to SA.

He's got 'em sitting on the bench this time.

It's like Steve McQueen in "The Great Escape" when he knows if he's not wearing his officer pin after he escapes from Stalag Luft III he'll be shot as a spy. Then he tries to jump that barbed wire fence into Switzerland on his motorcycle, but he comes up short and lands in the wire. And the Germans come up about to shoot him as a spy. But Steve McQueen pulls out the collar of his sweatshirt and he has his officer pin inside and he shows it to 'em with that big Steve McQueen smile.

    That's Pop.

    No one shoots Steve McQueen.

Whether Parker's knee was truly swelling or whether he only needed rest, I say good call by Pop. He knows the pulse of this team better than anyone. I'm just glad that Pop was smarter about "couching" the explanation for the public, so as to keep the NBA suits out of his hair - especially Dictator Stern.
