It's going to take a championship for people to forget about the recent playoff upsets. The sweep to the Suns in '10 and the 1st round loss in '11. Even last year was a backdoor sweep.
The Spurs are gonna play 5 on 8 silly. Though it wouldn't hurt if Green doesn't have one of his patented cold streaks in the WCF.

Oh look, it's theSpurs aren't getting any press from mainstream media
thread. Get the over it already, it's been like 20 years of the same man
The Spurs need to defend the stars well and limit the role players. They also need KL to play his best defense against Durant/Lebron.
It seems like in recent years Pop has become so focused on trying to stop the stars he's let the role players beat us. It's a reversal from '05 when he let Stoudemire average 37 and we still won the series. If Durant/Lebron average 40+ and the role players are not getting involved the Spurs can still win.
I think even making it to the Finals would be enough to vindicate them for the most part but, yes...if they are getting to the Finals, they BETTER keep their perfect record intact.
Neither ESPN nor SI are interested in San Antonio, however SI at least tries to appear to be focused on reporting sports. ESPN has major offices in the big market cities. They take their cover stories from the stories from these offices. There's no money in reporting on the Spurs, no one wants to read it. If you want to know what's going on, read an article from 4 years ago and just change the date. The Spurs are doing what they've always done, and they will meet their demise this year as they always have, in the playoffs against a team that's built for a championship.
Eventually the bulk of the NBA fans want to read about their favorite teams and the other team that might challenge for a le. The Spurs are neither of these in most cases. The Mavericks don't get much press either, and didn't even when they won a ring.
The sweep to the Suns really wasn't a big deal. We weren't a championship caliber team and the Suns were due. The first round loss to Memphis had more to do with Manu and Tim's health. Could the Lakers win with an injured Kobe and ailing Pau? How about the Thunder with a hurt Westbrook and hobbled Durant? When we were at full strength we made it to the WCF. We swept the Clips but now the Clips are gonna beat us in the playoffs cuz they're new and improved? Get outta here! No Harden and we still can't beat the Thunder? Nonsense! We were TWO games away from a trip to the Finals, but we "overachieved!" Nope, we kicked ass but came up a little short. Let's try this again!!
